Winter boots that last longer than one winter

Hi all, I am looking for winter boots that don't fall apart after one season.

Ideally:

Ankle boots
With laces
Flat
Not too chunky (not a Doc Martens fan)
Look good with jeans and dresses

Any suggestions? In the past I have had M&S, Clarks etc. Happy to pay substantially more if that means they last. Just fed up of getting new ones every year.

Thank you!

My 'smart' winter boots are ancient Art Company ones - I've had them at least 10 years and they've had a lot of wear and still look pretty tidy! They are really hard wearing and well made. I don't know what their current lines are like but might be worth a look if you want them to last.

Or Fly boots are meant to be great, they're not chunky enough for me so might be perfect for you.

Blundstone boots. So comfy. Had mine 3 winters and they still look new.

Longhotsummers · 25/08/2024 13:55

Grenson are supposed to be good and last a long time.

I can’t recommend Fracap enough. I have a pair of their hiking style boots worn for 5 winters now and still like new. Although they are a lot more expensive now than when I bought mine!

Timberland boots last forever (or the ones I have bought have).

Sketchers. This will be my third winter with mine. They're comfortable to walk in, warm and good quality.

I've had Pikolino boots, Fly London boots, and Carl Scarpa boots. All had 3 to 4 winter's wear - and I've worn them a lot.

However they don't have laces.

Dd has Reiker boots that have lasted well - they have fake laces with a zip at the side.

I was going to say Grenson and Lanx too. I got Grenson Nanettes maybe 5/6 years ago and they look new still. I’ve also heard Solovair are good but haven’t personally tried them yet.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 25/08/2024 22:24

I've never had boots that fall apart after one winter.

If you want durability of product and style probably Doc style boots from the likes of Lanx, Grenson or Joseph Cheaney. All do flat lace up ankle boots in styles that aren't as clompy as Docs. Lanx Chipping, Grenson Ella and Joseph Cheaney Anna and Arundel Balmoral are more formal than Docs.

And I should read the thread before posting.

Won't be to everyone's taste but Islander Huntress leather and Harris tweed boots are very hard wearing. Despite the uppers being partly fabric they're good in wet weather because they have rubber soles. I wear them if weather is too wet or nasty to risk ruining Joseph Cheaney or Lanx boots.

I’ve had Clark’s boots that have lasted 8 years. Last year I bought exactly the same pair again.

I’ve also had a pair of Dune biker boots about 5 years. I wouldn’t wear the same boots day in, day out all winter but I can’t believe half decent boots (£75 and over) only last one winter.

Highlandflapped · 25/08/2024 22:38

Swedish Hasbeen trail boots are amazing. Mine have lasted years and I always get compliments when I wear them.

DGPP · 25/08/2024 22:53

Russell and Bromley always last for me

JustJazzy · 26/08/2024 19:44

Grenson boots are lovely, really comfortable, lightweight and great quality.

beanii · 26/08/2024 19:48

Have a look on Offcuts - some absolute bargains - I had a pair of leather Chelsea ugg boots (not the chavvy ones) - £39 perfect and lasted 8 years wearing them 9 months of the year.

Go through topcashback too.

Solymoly · 26/08/2024 20:30

I have had Seasalt boots and been pleased with them.

KirstenBlest · 02/09/2024 21:09

I've treated myself to some Grenson boots.
