How to style a boxy work t-shirt

I’m working at a big industry conference next week and our whole team needs to wear company t-shirts.

Think boxy, black, man-cut cotton tee. I’m trying to figure out how to glam myself up a bit. I can’t wear a blazer/cardigan etc because there’s writing on the back and not allowed to cover it up. I’m also on my feet all day at the team booth so don’t want heels.

I’m also a bit fat round the middle, so a bit self conscious about tucking the shirt in to an a-line skirt or work trousers. I’ve been pinteresting and googling but not sure what to do.

Any ideas for a fat lady who wants to be comfy but not frumpy? Thank you fashionistas!

What about a half tuck or French tuck?

What about a half tuck or French tuck?

Would that work with a big tummy? All the examples I saw on Pinterest were women with flat stomachs who would look amazing in a potato sack 😅

I’d tuck it in to your favourite black bottoms then pull it up and out so it kind of folds over your waistband. Then it’s tucked in to give a bit of shape, but not so exposing around the tummy!

I’ve also seen where people get a length of elastic, tie it into a loop to suit their waist size, tuck the top into that and do the same ‘pull it over the top’ to flop over the elastic.

Or to avoid tucking at all - how does it look over a long straight skirt of the same colour? Or left out over slim leg slightly cropped trousers / slim black jeans?

It’s good advice to try a few different styles and see what looks the best. I also think no one cares what I will look like, so it’s more about what I feel best in.

The men in my team are so lucky they don’t have to worry about it 😂 Pair of jeans and nicer trainers, and they’re sorted.

Have you seen those basic bands on Amazon you tuck clothes into? They might work.

Tie it with a bobble at the side maybe, or try the button/bobble hack?

I’d have a look at the neck line as well, maybe cut it into a scoop neck? Much more flattering to boobs

Thank you all so much! I was feeling a bit disheartened with it all, but now I’m excited to try different things ☺️

Thanks for making me feel so much more confident x
