What to do with highlights that's growing out

I got highlights for the first time in May. They are growing out now and my roots are coming in.

I don't know what to do with my hair colour going forward.

I was thinking about an all over bleach but I won't do that due to regular bleach touch up of the roots. I read approx every 6 weeks for that. If I could do it every 10 weeks I likely would consider it.

All over bleach is likely out.

I don't know if I should get more highlights.

Or get a colour closer to my natural brown put in so that I could grow my hair out easier.

I have no idea what to do with my hair.

If you like it lighter but don't want the maintenance then balayage could work for you. My natural colour is dark blonde (the ends lighten in the sun). I get very subtle balayage done so my hair looks like it's had more sun lightening than it really has and it only needs doing once a year, no roots whatsoever.

Or you could just have your roots done?

How long is your hair and do you like the highlights?

My hair is armpit length. I do like the highlights. The roots are looking bad now.

I think I will stay with getting more highlights.

Or do I ask for just the roots done.

I have no idea what to ask for with my hairdresser. I am only new to getting my hair dyed this year.

I tend to have just my roots done every other appointment as it's cheaper and quicker. Then I have highlights done between those appointments

How do people know what to book with their hairdresser - highlights/half head of highlights/just the roots

I have no idea what I need but I know I have roots coming in and they are looking bad now.

You really don’t have to know what to ask for, just phone them and explain how you want to look.
