At home IPL vs clinic laser?

Currently weighing up my options and torn between the pros/cons of both.. and scared clinic would hurt more! 😂

Has anyone done both and can advise what they found best?

For reference I’m considering using either Laser Clinics UK or Therapie, and looking mainly for bikini/hollywood and underarms initially.

Clinic don't by a professional , they have training , better quality machines, know what they are doing, can see the area they are working on ( think of that logistics of doing everything correctly for a Hollywood) they know how growth cycles work, your period can affect the pain tolerance too.

*done not don't

What kind of prices are you looking at for salon treatment
I am looking at prices for home use IPL, mainly for armpits and legs for DD and me to use.

Onekidnoclue · 17/08/2024 21:26

I’ve done both. At home was pointless ime. Clinic was painful but it got the job done.

UtterlyQuackers · 17/08/2024 21:26

Following with interest. Current debating the same for my hairy chin!

Wahine24 · 17/08/2024 21:32

Honestly if a random non professional can buy it online it's usually a waste of money! It's not just zapping a hair away.

FiveStoryFire · 18/08/2024 09:32

Clinic wasn't painful at all for me.

Fishwiife · 18/08/2024 09:40

I have a home one, it’s great. It helps if you have light skin and dark hair, not sure why! I’ve used mine four times on my underarm and there is very little there now

LlamaNoDrama · 18/08/2024 09:58

I have an IPL but it doesn't work on my chin or bikini line. Works fine on my legs and armpits though.

Sparrow91 · 18/08/2024 17:46

Thanks everyone!! I’m heading to book a clinic consultation now!

@Onekidnoclue how painful are we talking? Worse than a Hollywood hot wax? 😬

@70isaLimitNotaTarget its about £170ish for underarms and Hollywood (incl. peri anal) for 6 sessions. 1/2 Legs were £300 on their own, again for 6 sessions. This is with laser clinics uk btw.

Yes, the thought of me trying to have eyes in the back of my head wasn’t appealing 😂

Home didn't work for me, complete waste of time. Clinic worked well and didn't hurt at all.

Jackasnack · 18/08/2024 18:34

For those that tried it at home and it didn’t work, what device were you using? The reviews for the Lumea look like it does the job well. Was just about to buy one…

Wahine24 · 18/08/2024 18:35

@Sparrow91 Also hari is not only where you expect it to be ( mid thigh bum cheek etc )this is obviously the polite version :)

stepfordwifey · 18/08/2024 19:17

I've got a corded Lumea Prestige which is great as no waiting for it to re charge again. I've had it about 3 years. My underarm hair went after just a few sessions never to return. I'm dark and very hairy! I hated shaving my armpits every few days.
It's drastically reduced the hair everywhere else including facial and chin hairs. Hardly any on my arms. Legs need more attention but I would say about 80% reduction.
I got a deal through the Phillips website. Use it now about every couple of months.
I've been really pleased with it and the results.
