I know I am not the only one like me but I've had the same basic hairstyle all my life and I now would love a change. I just don't know what sort of short style would suit me and I could do with some pointers that I can take to a salon. I joke about having hair that hangs down long like a spaniels ears but that is exactly how I feel it looks as it covers my cheeks. I would love something short round the ears to get rid of the length and have the top cut feminine and quite short.
I have seen some styles I like but I have not posted them as I would like to see what you say rather than me influence you with my ideas, especially as I don't know what would suit me!!
It is a big decision and it would be a help to have some opinions.....
Thanks
S.

I think there is too much wave in your hair for short short like the one you suggested. Take it from me you would end up fighting it constantly! Better to go for something that makes use of the natural body and texture you have.

Do you ever pull your hair back into a pony tail or a bun. I speak as someone who was scalped by a hairdresser and have only just grown my hair out and am able on the second day to pull it back into a proper ponytail and bulldog clip.

I hate that hairdresser. He knew my hair as well. It was meant to look like some of the pics others have posted but ended up being as flat as a pancake because I have soft no body hair.

I would do this in stages. Just in case.

Thanks Iloveshihtzus .....I was going through loads of your pins and I saw this..........does anyone think I can pull it off....it is a major change but I like it.......it gets rid of my Spaniel ears thats for sure!

That's really dated, Kate Gosselin style. Longer layers, you can definitely pull off short though.

What is your natural hair like, texture wise, though? Only asking because mine, though blow dried straight most of the time, is wavy/curly. And the shorter it gets (and the older I get), the curlier it will be (without the weight to hold it down). If I posted a picture of my hair now, I’d probably get the same suggestions as you. The reality of that is, going that short, if I ever didn’t spend hours teasing it out, I’d look like Phyllis from Call The Midwife.

I'd be a bit careful with this one. It's utterly ridiculous but people refer to this as the 'Karen' hairstyle and I've seen younger people actually laughing at women with hair like this in a Supermarket. Horrible behaviour but I do agree with a PP that this look is quite dated.

Also agree that a consultation is a good idea. Maybe with a new hairdresser so they don't know what your preferences are?

You have lovely, thick hair and a slim face - I think you could pull off many lovely styles.
