Is it too early to discuss autumn....?

🍂 🍁 I'm starting to feel the back to school energy (I am not a teacher...but ready for kids to go back).

Just purchased some burgundy, velvet Mary Jane flats to wear with cropped/straight jeans.

What's on your autumn wish list this year?

I really fancy a navy coat this year - black feels too harsh as I age. Also really lusting over the Genevieve Sweeney cardigans.

Never too early to discuss autumn, my favourite season! I've lost a bit of weight recently, and realised I finally fit into an olive green corduroy mini skirt that I bought during covid times, and didn't try on. So I want to get some lovely, good quality, funky tights to wear with it.

There’s another thread on A/W fashion but I cannot link it.

Basically
dark red
wine red
so your burgundy shoes are spot on

leopard - my Marks and Spencer leopard coat will get more outings ( I love it and ignore my daughters dark muttering about Kat Slater)

plaid or tartan

there’s more but I cannot remember it all

And no, not too early . I’m thinking about a jumpsuit , lots of women round me wearing them

I’ve already bought a pair of indigo wide legged jeans and these boots to wear with them

Not much on mine just yet as I love summer clothes and hate having to put them away. The one thing I do really want this year is a grey wool herringbone coat.

Still too early for me. I’m so fickle that if I buy things I can’t wear straightaway, I’ve gone off them by the time I do.

Also I much prefer summer temperatures and summer clothing. Much easier to look effortless when not done up in five layers. It is effortless!

AW 24, what’s in style? | Mumsnet

Any predictions as to what is going to be on trend for 40 somethings this autumn and winter? I used to live reading style magazines for the new seas...

I love autumn/ winter wear but enjoying the lovely summer we’ve been having in north east Scotland the last month or so. Kids back to school next week and I’m starting to think about clothing for them. For me, I want some dark red boots, some new waterproof boots for walking dog/ around the farm. And I want a new black denim skirt. No leopard print for me, not a fan at all.

Oh yes to a grey wool herringbone! Please post if you find anything lovely - I've wanted one for years but never found quite the right one!

Just tights really. And re-heeling some shoes.

I already bought a fitted little dark blue coat and a cream cashmere poloneck, so that's my lot.

VenusClapTrap · 15/08/2024 13:00

I was complaining to my friend only yesterday that I’m already being spammed with autumn fashion, when we’ve only just started getting summer weather. Not even 24 hours later and I’m lusting after the jackets that FB has been waving in my face 😂.

There’s a pink M&S suede one I’ve got my eye on. But also a velvet 100 Stars one that I didn’t allow myself to buy last year, that I still like.

Gorgeous boots!

LoobyDoop2 · 15/08/2024 14:29

@Magpiecomplex I used to post on a board years ago that would have described those as Victorian Tart Boots of Joy (VTBOJ). Very nice!

viccat · 15/08/2024 14:35

I bought some lovely things last year and am really looking forward to getting to wear them again. Dark green corduroy wide leg trousers, red velvet skirt, pure wool knits, lovely socks, ankle boots... oh and scarves, love scarves!

I've been eyeing the Genevieve Sweeney cardigans for a long time, too. Can't decide on a colour...

I just bought a plum coloured waterproof coat - light enough for summer but should see me through most of autumn too layered up.

superplumb · 15/08/2024 17:42

Still trying to find a just below the knee dark red corduroy dress with belt

HarrietsweetHarriet · 26/08/2024 21:17

Love, love, love all things autumnal. On the hunt for a lovely pair of wide leg indigo jeans and a pale grey cashmere sweater.
I have a couple of lovely pairs of Chelsea boots from.last year - wine red and olive green.
Can't really justify a new winter coat as I have a perfectly serviceable long green Brakeburn puffer coat for super cold days and a smarter checked wool by Great Plains.
Dress with cashmere jumper or cardi over is my staple, with flat chelsea boots and opaque tights.
