I have very thick hair which has a bit of a kink and is frizzy if I just leave it. I always straighten it and it looks nice but doesn't stay like that for long. I only wash it once a week and after sleeping on it or execising it goes horrible and frizzy. I definately don't have time to straighten it evey day. I'm thinking about seeing if it's actually wavy but know I need products for this and don't know where to start. There are so many videos out there! Has anyone got any recommendations? Also what do you do about brushing/combing your hair if you don't wash it every day?

I have found this to be a really good product for my curly hair. I don’t straighten it though www.boucleme.co.uk/products/curl-defining-gel

Are you wearing a silk or satin cap to sleep in?

Yourownpersonaljesus · 12/08/2024 15:19

Thanks @PragmaticDramatic - do I need the cream and gel. That would be very expensive. The products do look lovely though. I like the fact that they are vegan.
I'm not @2sisters could you recommend a reasonably priced one.

I'd buy a cheap satin one of Amazon to see if you can tolerate it. My kids hat having stuff on their heads. A silk or satin pillowcase would also help.

I wear this.

Should I invest in a hairdryer with a diffuser or just leave my hair to dry naturally?

OP posts:
2sisters · 12/08/2024 18:52

You might want a microfiber towel for drying.
Id only use a diffuser on my hair on special occasions with heat protector. Generally, I avoid heat on the girls. I'm really doing trial and effort with products. We all have different hair types so it's tricky. I have 2c hair. My oldest had 4c and youngest has 3c.. We like Shea moisture products and As I am. We didn't like Aunt Jackie's.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 12/08/2024 20:58

Thanks @2sisters I have a microfibre towel so I won't bother with a diffuser. Even when I straighten my hair I never dry it first just leave it to dry naturally.

I have curly hair (if brushed I’d also describe as kink/frizz) that I’ve straightened most of my adult life but I’ve finally decided to work with the curl the last year and it’s been a revelation! I’d advise hydrating shampoo, palmers coconut oil leave in conditioner spray, Schwartzkopf got2b red bottle wave spray, finger brush, scrunch and air dry if time. I can’t sleep in a cap and love my cotton pillowcase, but have a barrel tong that I add a few refresh curls in with after sleeping on it. It tends to last me two days, three if I put it up on day 3. I still mix it up with straightening when I feel like it. Hth

Thank you @Hullabalooza that's really helpful.

I just use the gel

PragmaticDramatic · 13/08/2024 13:00

@Yourownpersonaljesus You can find the gel in Boots and M&S

TheGodS · 13/08/2024 13:19

I use the Cantu products. You can get them in Superdrug and Boots. They're brilliant for wavy and curly hair. My curls are now defined and not a frizzy, dry hot mess! Also they're not expensive which is a plus.

Ok I tried it using the Boucleme. I washed it yesterday, added the product to soaking wet hair, scrunched it and left it to dry. I quite liked it but it didn't look as good as in all of the videos I've seen. But after sleeping on it today it doesn't look great (haven't bought a sleep cap yet). Also I can't brush/comb it so it's going to get tangly. I'm not planning on washing it for a week so what do I do between washes? I really need advice please as I don't want to keep straightening my hair.

OP posts:
PragmaticDramatic · 17/08/2024 13:34

@Yourownpersonaljesus I don’t add it to soaking wet hair. I have a micro fibre towel that I use when I have ashes my hair that takes a significant amount of water out then I dry it a little using a hair dryer and apply it when it’s damp. It really does help define my curls and control the frizz.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 17/08/2024 15:23

Thanks @PragmaticDramatic I'll try that next time. In the meantime, what do I do with my hair?

OP posts:
PragmaticDramatic · 17/08/2024 17:55

@Yourownpersonaljesus I don’t know!

Yourownpersonaljesus · 17/08/2024 19:47

Thanks anyway @PragmaticDramatic 😁
