Who has a really good (not expensive) waterproof mascara they can recommend please?

Hoping someone can please give me a recommendation - needs to be black and waterproof BUT really key thing is that it's easy to remove with make up remover (due to my most recent experience).

Prices on this forum often run a little high for me 😂 ...so I'm not looking for really high end products, just normal drugstore under £15 ish. I've had plenty in the past in this price range that were great but I can never remember which I've bought before.

The last few waterproof mascaras I've tried have been dire. Most recent one was Maybelline Sky High which was good enough whilst on but like permanent concrete trying to take off! Two different types of make up remover and micellar water and it would not budge - I ended up having to pick it off where I could, it was horrendous. Never had that happen before but it's made me very nervous of future purchases!

Many thanks in advance!

I was going to recommend the Maybelline Sky High one! If it's just the removal that's the problem, try the Garnier purple eye make up remover - it works really well with it and is very reasonable.
Soak a pad and press gently for 5 seconds before wiping.

I use Rimmel 100% Waterproof in the blue tube. It’s cheap, lasts the day and comes off when I wash my face in the evening.

NellyCortado · 11/08/2024 10:13

Otherwise Beauty Pie do a good one (gold tube) called Perfect Waterproof or something.

OperationalSupport · 11/08/2024 10:15

Ive found snapscara ok - it doesn’t give the most incredible looking eyelashes, but it does not smudge, and then comes off easily with warm water.

DeclineandFall · 11/08/2024 10:17

Maybelline Sky High. With the primer its looks even better and still waterproof and just come off with a cloth and a cleanser. The Beauty Pie one is bombproof but it's a total nightmare to get off.
I swim everyday and need waterproof stuff but can't use eye makeup remover as it gives me dermatitis so Sky High is a god send.

I've been using the max factor false lash effect waterproof one...I've been quite pleased with it

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 11/08/2024 10:19

Boots 360. Really good value.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 11/08/2024 10:34

Sorry, it won't let me edit. No.7 I should have said.
360 I find gives good volume, is waterproof and comes off with micellar water. The brush is a good shape which makes it easy to apply

ViscountDreams · 11/08/2024 10:40

Thanks for suggestions everyone!

I wonder if I had a random dodgy tube of Sky High with something wrong with it? Two recommendations for it that don't seem to have had the same issue I did. And tbf I've never had that experience ever with mascara.

I’ll third this, wasn’t expecting much but it’s the best I’ve used in a long time.

I've always struggled getting this off too but always assumed I was using the wrong removal products. I have cupboard full of cleansing balms and make up removers but it never touches it. I never even thought about it being the mascara!

DeclineandFall · 11/08/2024 14:42

I just use the Beauty Pie Japan cleanser and a cleansing pad and Sky High comes off easy. Might be the tube you had or maybe it reacts differently to different cleansers.

Max factor Masterpiece Waterproof (gold tube)

EveryOtherNameTaken · 11/08/2024 15:13

Rimmel pink.

hamsterchump · 11/08/2024 15:27

Baby oil on a cotton pad gets everything off, cheap and doesn't sting my eyes like micellar water.

theyoungishman · 11/08/2024 15:28

You need a tubing mascara, comes off just with warm water and will not budge or smudge. I have very hooded eyes and this is the only thing that works for me

RosesAndHellebores · 11/08/2024 15:29

Why do you need it?

JoBoJoBo · 11/08/2024 15:30

No 7 mascara in Boots is great.

BeanyBops · 11/08/2024 15:38

Maybelline sky high is the best! But it's a tubing mascara, you won't get it off with regular eye make up remover, you need a lot of water. Mine comes off very easily washing my face with hands, soap or face wash, and water.

It's not a tubing mascara...

I second this.

OuterSpaceCadet · 11/08/2024 16:20

I absolutely love soap and glory thick and fast tubing mascara. Such good value and far nicer than several more expensive brands I've tried.

Comes off easily with eye makeup remover, eye makeup micellar or just warm water and a flannel. Tubing mascaras behave similarly to waterproof, but probs come off a bit more if swimming. But they come off in little easy to deal with clumps, rather than streaming down your face.

ViscountDreams · 11/08/2024 16:30

How have I got to the age of 37 without ever hearing of tubing mascara?! Just had to have a Google, I didn't even know it existed 😂

It is really difficult to get off. But I use the Nivea waterproof remover. Put it on the cotton wool pad and then press it against your eye for 30 seconds. Then it comes off easier
