What am I doing wrong with my hair?

Went to the hairdresser on Monday. I like the way she did my hair (photo outdoors) - she used straighteners to flick it up a bit at the ends - she put some sort of volumiser product on before drying. Now I've tried to do the same my hair looks all frizzledSad (photo indoors). What am I doing wrong? Is there a product that could help? I just washed and used conditioner before styling - I don't have any other products yet.

Did you use straighteners? You said you did the same but it doesn’t look straightened?

Yes, but not very well obviously. I usually just wash and leave, not very skilled at styling....

Heat protection spray, straighteners and then use some serum

Basically she’s blow dried it out likely with a barrel type brush. Or uses straighteners. If you can’t do a blow dry. Straighteners should achieve a similar result. It doesn’t look straightened to me

You need heat protection spray and then some serum for after - tiny amount.

Thanks @MadeForThis and @Comedycook any recommendations for specific products. I am really shit at this sort of thing - have been described as "very low maintenance" - don't know what possessed me to go for a style that needs some work - I just fancied a change I think.

Op do you know how to straighten hair, you take small sections and very slowly take the straightener down it, always use a heat protection product. That should smooth out the hair.
