All my jeans look wrong! Can you help a 40 something look a bit more current?

I live in my jeans, but I've realised they're all looking a bit old fashioned and I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to replace them with. I'm a petite 40 something, so I've been giving all the wide cut jeans a bit of a swerve as I don't want to look swamped, but I've no idea what kind of jeans I should be looking at instead. Could someone wiser than me advise please? TIA!

Following... I'm the same. I did buy a pair of RI high waist wide legs and they're v flattering but I like the kind of 3/4 length straight legged ones I see in pictures but no idea where they're from. . Maybe not describing them well. Thanks for the thread.

I know it's not your (my) demographic but Holister have some great jeans at the moment. Sensible sizing (US) so I'm a big size 10 and their size 6 fits me great. They have v good wide leg, and baggy types which I think look great with trainers, birkies or similar, sandals plus a classic white T, good layered jewellery, sunnies.. good to go 😎

I think petite 40 somethings look fabulous in high waisted, flat front, wide(ish) legged jeans. I am constantly jealous when I see women wearing them. Although if I find a pair, maybe I'll try shoving my size 16, middle-heavy, body into a pair. Even more so if I manage to stay on my current weight loss trajectory!

Thank you all wise ones- I'll try to get over my irrational fear of wide leg jeans! That's good shouts @furusato and @Peasnbeans , I did actually used to buy a lot of jeans at Holister and M&S, but I just got out of the habit of looking there.

Levi’s Ribcage jeans are a straight leg so not too wide for petite people but still look current. The 27” leg is perfect with trainers and the 29” with heeled boots. I’m also 5 feet.

What is your body shape like OP? As a petite woman with wide hips and narrow waist, the mom style jean or slim jean style works much better for me than a wide legged style which due to my wide curvy hips makes me look like a big square. I also like slim styles as they aren’t too overwhelming on my small frames but not skinny at the same time.
I have a pair of levis 70s slim straight jeans which are surprisingly flattering though.
These are very flattering and come in different lengths and curvy options, frequently go on sale.
Abercrombie & fitch also do different lengths and styles.
