Anybody else a late dress convert??

I love dresses....this is something Im discovering about myself at the age 51!

My previous dress experience was party frocks when I was about 7 and I never touched them again until recently.
Probably coz dresses used to be a pita to wear! In summer you got sweaty, chafed thighs (sometimes to the point of blistering and bleeding) and in the winter you got to wear tights....which inevitably fell down so your crotch was knee level half the time.
But it seems technology has advanced!!LOL😄We now have tights that stay up and chub rub shorts to prevent dress related injury!

So now Im obsessed! Long floaty maxi dresses in beautiful patterns for the summer, elegant midi dresses and even the odd longer mini for when Im feeling super confident.
So comfy and such an easy way to look put together with minimal effort.

Im def in my dress wearing era now....😎.

I.love a dress. I do wish that midi.was more calf length, as often.they are almost maxi-moan over.

Bloody love dresses. I live in them. I stopped wearing them when I became paranoid about my post-4 babies-tummy, but now I have embraced that 'flaw' as part of story, and am back in dresses again! Also decided to let my dress lengths get a little shorter and not worry so much about my dazzlingly white legs!

Snap!! I’m same age and always been a trouser / shorts girl. Wore a dress the other week for an occasion and loved it so much I now own 4!!
Airy, freeing, no need to worry about tops and bottoms….. need I go on? I’m a late dress convert!

Glad its not just me!!😃

actually bought a bunch of soft summer maxi dresses from Vinted for basically peanuts and I love how I look like a proper put together grown up and yet it feels like Im walking around in a really comfy nightie!LOL😆

Im now really looking forward to autumn so I can dress them up with tights and boots.

Yep I'm a dress person, for every day or going out.

I love that you don't have to think about what goes with what, it's over your head and you look put together.

Yes! They are so easy to wear

Yep, dresses here too…. I have far far too many!
I wear summer and winter.
In summer it’s usually dresses with birkies.
In winter I wear boots ( Blundstones), my doc martens lace shoes or trainers with socks…I avoid tights ( work of the devil) by making the most of the colourful , patterned socks in merino wool. I wear a slip with my dresses to make them warmer.

I could have posted this myself, never wore dresses due to being plus size but now I'm 50 have finally embraced them.I find them so flattering and easy to wear ♥️

Yes I am the same! and I totally agree with this: We now have tights that stay up and chub rub shorts to prevent dress related injury!

I would also add:
-there is no one dress length that is "in", there are so many choices. When I was younger you only had whatever the trendy length was.
-there is no pressure to have tanned legs any more. Again when I was younger your legs had to be brown (and slim). When I think of the money and time I spent on crappy fake tan! Nowadays no one cares and anyway there's always maxi/midi if you want to cover more.
-more options of footwear to wear with dresses. Basically anything. This never used to be the case.
-they look great when layered with other clothes, which is just as well in Britain.

Love them!

Me too! And I’m over 70. Has taken me by surprise and am still getting used to the idea.

NewGirlinClass · 07/08/2024 12:54

I'm a fan of dresses, even for WFH, I feel up-together and business-like.
So many of my mates say "what a faff". Just leggings!
