Where is a good place for school shoes for secondary?

We always used to buy school shoes in an independent kids shoe shop, but it closed down this year.

I looked in our small local Clark’s but all the girls styles seemed to have a very thin sole with no grip.

Dd has a mile long hilly walk to school, so sturdy soles are important. She prefers brogue style, and they need to be real leather.

I have accepted we need a trip somewhere with more choice - are there other high street shops that are worth a look? Or is my best bet a larger Clark’s store? I don’t want to buy online as Dd has a very high instep, so it’s sometimes tricky getting shoes that fit well.

I ended up getting several from Next to try.

Dd is going into y11 and has worn brogues since about y4 we started getting them from sports direct for secondary school and they've lasted well (just replaced a pair she's had for nearly 2 years).

I didn’t even know Sports Direct sold school shoes, that’s helpful to know, thanks.
