I need a 'capsule' maternity wardrobe...

Can't believe I used the word 'capsule', but anyway.

I gave all my maternity clothes away about a year ago. I have one pair of Next jeans which are fine and another pair of jeans that will only fit for a few more weeks.

I need:

  • work stuff - work 2 days a week. Smart casual.
  • school run stuff

I also have a few t shirts that will be fine for a while yet....the ones that sort of come out from under the chest.

Help!!
Oh, and not a lot of money to spend

I am currently wearing this top layered with a white vest top underneath with a pair of dark blue jeans....

When I was last pg 5 yrs ago, I found a fantastic "capsule" thingy in a box in the US. Black, stretchy, forgiving fabric to "mix & match" (goes with capsule!) consisting of top, trousers, skirt & dress. I loved it & wore it even after birth. I gave it to my sister so brilliant value for money. Don't remember what it's called though.

That is the sort of thing I need. Stuff that can mix and match. TBH I wear fairly casual stuff for work - I envisage wearing the top that I have on today with black trousers to work at some point.

I wish I'd bought more 'next size up' stuff, as got totally fed-up still wearing maternity stuff after the birth. All the smock/tunic-y tops that were popular last year have been great too - plenty still doing the rounds in Primark and Matalan. Also have been really impressed by Mothercare/Moda trousers for work which aren't too pricey and they usually have some good sales.

cariboo - that looks great but out of my price range I am afraid.....

I am tempted to buy 'next size up' but I am one of those annoying people who tend to get back in their normal clothes within weeks of giving birth (sorry)

got some nice larger size stuff in Matalan at weekend and Mamas and Papas stuff is good and available online

My capsule maternity wardrobe was one pair of green cord maternity trousers from H&M, one pink maternity shirt from H&M, one (much nicer) pink maternity shirt that my sister bought me in Spain, a cardigan of my mother's from before she got very slim and various coats and jackets borrowed from bigger members of my family.
