I'd like to buy dd a proper perfume obviously we will go together so she can smell someone but are there any lighter ones nice for a 17 year old so we don't go round all the ones.

What does your dd like? My dsc likes the sol de janerio body sprays.

AndForAFortnightThereWeWereForever · 24/07/2024 22:26

Chanel Mademoiselle is really nice. Smile

It's a bit heavy going for a teen - more a graduation gift or something. Try miss dior?

1yearplan · 24/07/2024 22:31

My daughter likes miss dior

LuckbeaLady2 · 24/07/2024 22:31

a friend gave me miss dior and I don't know if there are different types within it but I found it a little cloying?

I would have a look at Gucci flora, Marc Jacob’s daisy, issiye miyake, kenzo, Estée Lauder pleasures range, Jimmy choo
DD when younger preferred lighter florals

Lovemybunnies · 25/07/2024 00:37

My DD has Miss Dior but I also like her perfume by Ariana Grande. Not sure which one it is but they do a set of a few different ones. My younger DD likes the M&S perfumes which are nice but don’t last long.

Rollergirl11 · 25/07/2024 05:50

DD (18) likes Thierry Muglers Alien Goddess and Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb. She also likes a few of the Floral Street range that are fresh and light.

Timeisnevertimeatall · 25/07/2024 05:55

DD wears CKOne.

2024intake · 25/07/2024 05:59

My DD of same age also likes Sol de Janeiro (sp) products.

BlackBean2023 · 25/07/2024 06:03

My DD wears Marc Jacobs Daisy and MJ Perfect for going out out. Not cheap so she stocks up at birthdays and Xmas!

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 25/07/2024 06:17

I was going to suggest Daisy too, they're lovely and such a cute bottle.

For something really light and fresh and a bit cheaper, the L'Occitane fragrances are great too.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 25/07/2024 06:18

Other classic fresh scents are DKNY apple and pretty much anything by Calvin Klein.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/07/2024 06:30

Maybe something citrus / floral. Jo Malone have some nice ones. Orange Blossom for example and they also do Lime Basil and Mandarin. Or Burberry Touch. I used to wear Lancôme O when younger, which is a similar profile, maybe not so easy to find. If she wants something for every day, New Look Blush is fruity/floral - there is one by the door, which my 16 yo dd and I spray on ourselves if we want to quickly put some perfume on. It smells a lot like Mademoiselle - I think it’s still sold in store, I bought one recently off eBay as I don’t tend to shop there.

I also think Miss Dior and Mademoiselle are youthful. Has your dd tried your Miss Dior? My dd has used both of these at times (mine) but she’s fixed on La Vie est Belle, which isn’t a young woman’s perfume (yes, mine) so her grandfather got her some for her birthday.

Popplebop · 25/07/2024 06:39

my DD likes Glossier You, a couple of the Zara perfumes and the Sol de Janeiro sprays.

AndYesTheWeeDonkeys · 25/07/2024 08:25

Why not order her a set of samples from Bloom or Les Senteurs? That way she could have the fun of trying them out at her leisure - with the promise of a full bottle if she finds anything she loves.

Bloom Perfumery

Les Senteurs

Or she might prefer to bypass the full bottle and just sign up for regular samples of new things via subscription?

OneBadKitty · 25/07/2024 08:54

My DD likes Mancera's Instant Crush.

LuckbeaLady2 · 25/07/2024 08:58

Some fabulous ideas here thank you

I have a perfume called Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker it's not too strong at all. Also Calvin Klein ones are nice. I used to wear them all the time as a 18-19 year old and still do sometimes.
Coco Mademoiselle is my all time favourite though.

LuckbeaLady2 · 09/08/2024 10:15

@AndYesTheWeeDonkeys that subscription sounds interesting but how would she do that?

Where stocks sol de janerio to try : is it boots?

OP posts:
LuckbeaLady2 · 24/08/2024 15:23

Thanks everyone she said she doesn't like floral scents and went for a solo de janerio caramel in the end. She brought it herself and unfortunately the spray broke that day so extremely disappointed.
She's emailed them so will see what they say.
