Hello, fashion hive mind! Happy Sunday :)

A plea for advice from anyone with recommendations/experience of looking like a giraffe in sheep’s clothing….

I’m looking for a simple, non-embellished, ideally bias cut, floor length wedding dress. However, I’m 186cm (6’2ish) and am really struggling to find anything.

I’ve really got my heart set on a long dress, as having any part of my legs out isn’t an option for me.

In terms of style, I basically want an elegant, floor length dress that just happens to be white or ivory! I’ve tried some bridal boutiques but everything felt very over the top and not very me.

I found a few I liked at Whistles but they weren’t long enough, and I really like a couple at Olivia Rose eg https://oliviarosethelabel.com/shop/loretta-gown-in-ivory-white/…but I’m nervous ordering from here without being able to touch the fabric or try on.

Budget up to £1000, wedding will be a registry office with 16 guests and then a meal.

Have you thought about getting a dress made for you? As you are so tall it may be the easiest way to get the exact look you want without having to traipse around boutiques or ordering loads online?
My friend had her dress made by a local seamstress, it really wasn’t expensive in comparison to the large bridal shops.

Have you tried Wed2B? Beautiful dresses, all under £1000 and should definitely be the right length. I'm 6ft and was worried about the exact same thing - all fitted really well - its worth checking out! The do a great range too, from big dresses to much more simple ones, but all very lovely quality (especially for the price!). https://www.wed2b.com/sidney

Sidney

Simple elegance is the best way to describe this striking sheath. Made from plain crepe that gently skims curves, it features a soft V-neckline, delicate straps and a contemporary scooped cowl back. A chic row of covered buttons completes the look.

I’d thought about it yes! but to be honest assumed it would be too expensive from the places I found online, and haven’t been able to get any recommendations for smaller local seamstresses near me…

Thanks for this, I’m going to look right now! Great to hear you found something that worked length-wise :)

Monsoon off the peg wedding dresses are incredibly long! My theory is they make them long enough for the tallest woman they can think of and then literally anyone can get them shortened to fit.

I am 5'5" and the one I bought online was longer than the whole of me, including head.

Also loads of them are lovely. Only online though so you'll have to order, try, return.
