Swimsuit for a very large tummy

Paulettamcgee · 17/07/2024 18:54

I'm looking for a swimsuit that hides my huge tummy somewhat. I'm a size 12-14 but have fibroids the size of a 24:week pregnancy so I look pot bellied and awful. The largest fibroid is also pushing upwards so my big tummy starts quite high up. It's also hard so I can't squish into anything.

Help! I'm really self conscious but would like to get in the pool/sea and laze on the beach on holiday.

Would you be more comfortable in a maternity swimsuit? At least you'd know it would cover your stomach without feeling too tight whilst also fitting everywhere else.

Yes, that could possibly be a good idea. Thank you so much.

Are you getting help for your fibroids?

Are you getting help for your fibroids?

Yes. Although hasn't been a quick process. I'm hoping treatment can start in a few months.

Would a tankini work? Then you could get a smaller size in the bottoms. I think you can get tops that are more floaty and loose.

cavernclub · 20/07/2024 23:29

I find Zoggs swimsuits are very flattering. Order a size up. They have a different support options too

UsernameFail · 20/07/2024 23:35

Try Pour Moi over even Next for tummy control swimsuits. They usually have some ruching

PrincessMee · 21/07/2024 00:58

@Paulettamcgee that's good. The reason I asked is I had to have an emergency hysterectomy due to a large fibroid which went haywire. I think I should have got it cauterised before as opposed to the " monitoring" they were doing.

You poor thing. I hope you are recovered now. I don't want a hysterectomy, which is being pushed quite heavily at me. I have another appointment in a month and will be asking for an embolization.

Thank you, a very good idea. Something looser over the tummy is ideal.

Agree with PP that Next have some really good quality swimsuits that will give good coverage. Hope you get help soon.

olympicsrock · 21/07/2024 18:33

I like the M and S control tummy ruched ones

Paulettamcgee · 21/07/2024 18:42

Thanks @olympicsrock & @NoSnowdrop some good suggestions of where to start looking.

My appearance is really getting me down now. Most of my clothes no longer fit across my tummy.

I got this one from Amazon for my holiday and was very happy with it. They have lots of different patterns and colours too. They hide my big tummy really well

FLYILY Women 2 Piece Tankini... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0829P66MC?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

isitfridaay · 21/07/2024 20:28

Ruched style are good for a larger tummy a they accommodate a range of styles and sort of distract.

Try cup she or sea fancy

Although my favourite is from Matalan

Firtreeandpinecones · 21/07/2024 20:32

How about something like this?

Lucy377 · 21/07/2024 20:47

Next do a great range of swimsuits.

If you go for a padded top with high cut legs and lots of detail at the top, the tummy is less noticeable.

Halternecks draw attention to the top part of your body. You could wrap a nice scarf in your hair to create a diversion!

The tummy control ones can be uncomfortable so try to disguise rather than squash.

Cherubs4 · 21/07/2024 20:51

A swimsuit a few sizes larger than your regular swimsuit should fit - I had a speedo swimsuit 4 sizes bigger when heavily pregnant and it fit well over my stomach

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/07/2024 20:53

Tankinis are brilliant for this - I have a polka dot halter neck and wear it with longer shorts rather than bottoms. So much easier to pee too!
