Looking for elegant dress for Board meeting

Puppalicious · 16/07/2024 16:31

I want to look classy and elegant at an upcoming Board meeting, and I think I fancy a dress. Probably in navy or black - I do have a penchant for bright colours but now I want to look like a grown up. I do have wide leg back and narrow leg navy Joseph trousers, which I could pair with a nice blouse (I have bright green and white but wore the white one recently and green might be too bright) so will accept suggestions there too. But for some reason fancying a dress. I have big boobs so v necks suit but not sure in fashion and cleavage can be an issue! So classy, elegant, maybe a bit quirky/with a twist. Budget up to about £500. Hit me with your suggestions - thank you!

It’s absolutely true of The Fold but that’s why I’m drawn to their clothes.

The Fold have amazing customer service, so no worries about returns and exchange. A bonus with Fold dresses is that they travel really well and will come out of a travel bag looking as good as when they went in.

This is exactly the thread I need! New senior role, new organisation starting in September and I want to make a fabulous first impression ☺️

I get all my work clothes from The Fold. The refund process is quick and smooth should you not be sure of your size. I also rate their shoes.

I love MeandEm.

Under your budget but Hobbs is always my go to. I can always find something that fits the corporate style I need for some occasions. Agree it helps me get in the right frame of mind.

Laughing at the idea that dressing for work is over. Certainly not in my industry... or many judging by some people at the station.

Really liking some of the meandem dresses. Just bought the RL dress but may need to reconsider!

Another vote for The Fold

I think the days of dressing up for work are over? I can't get excited about work clothes and dont distinguish from non-work clothes anymore, and I'm quite senior. I think I'm on the wrong thread!

Standards dropping everywhere

I am C-Suite in beauty and wear Max Mara. I have done for twenty odd years.
I am very busty.
I've just ordered from the Fold.
For everyday I wear silk shirts, a blazer and black trousers.
I like a dress for meetings. I have a Givenchy one from Harrods, ditto a blazer.
Liberty have some great clothes but it does mean a London trip.
I have suits made at Stewart Parvin but they are very classic not quirky.

Despite all the changes that have happened in the working environment since Covid, I am sure you will not look out of place in a smart dress at a board meeting. We don't have them in my company but there are sales conferences and trade fairs and the senior management team are expected to dress formally for these.

I really like Me+Em but at 5ft 3in find their clothes are generally cut for taller women so the waistline hits me at top of hips etc. The Fold is great, but for a smart and pulled-together but slightly less corporate look I like Cefinn:

Style & Fit Notes If a dress that is perfect for smarter days that can be machine washed and requires no ironing sounds too good to be true, meet Reya. Designed in our iconic Japanese Techni Voile fabric, this silhouette is majorly flattering thank...

Since discovering them, The Fold has been my go to for serious dressing which gives you massive confidence. Its very well made and considers keeping looking nice all day (non creasing) and flatters without in general being in any way revealing. I like the details like when there is a wider neck it will have snaps and loops to hold the neckline to your bra straps

That RL is beautiful. So elegant. Hope it looks great on you.

Puppalicious · 18/07/2024 12:41

Loving some of those cefinn dresses too. Thanks everybody, my problem now is wanting to buy too much 😄

I love the RL dress and the petrol coloured Cefinn!

<wishes I had an excuse to buy them both>
