Boys school trousers-extra long. M&S sold out!

Our son is a bit of a BFG at the moment so requires extra long length trousers for going back to school. (Scotland so go back near start of Aug)
M&S sold out and the ones from Next are not long enough. He’s 14 but would fit 16-17 extra long.

Anyone know anywhere else that stocks extra long length? His frame means he’s too skinny to wear men’s sizes! Argh…

Thank you in advance.

They seem to be in stock in the skinny leg? Might tide you over until the one you want comes back in stock. Alternatively have you tried M&S in store, and asked them to look at other stores' stock?

maldivemoment · 16/07/2024 12:38

Thank you @JudgeBurrito
As far as I can see, the skinny leg ones don’t come in extra long length. (even if they did, I’m worried he’ll look like a human pencil wearing them! 😆)

Apologies @JudgeBurrito
Clicked on your link and you’re right, extra long length is available. Do I risk it? 😬

I'd get them, try them, and keep the receipt and return them if you find another pair? Better than his budgie being deid

Ariela · 16/07/2024 13:00

One thing you can do if you bought the same last year and the fabric has not changed, is let the hem right down, cut out a piece off last year's pair to sew on to the very bottom of the new pair to make the inside of the new hem.

They will re stock over summer ready for September. It's end of summer now so most people aren't buying it

Did you read the OP..? She can't wait till September

Persiancouscous · 16/07/2024 13:16

John lewis do them

boredybored · 16/07/2024 13:29

@JudgeBurrito yeah I did , I was explaining how supply and demand works ✅🤨.. most of the Uk are off until September so the retailers won't re stock until later on .

2 tall clothing

2 tall clothing does skinny extra long trousers, delivers from Scotland so wouldn’t take long. The quality is excellent and the clothing lasts.

I gave up on High St shops for DS when he hit 6'4". The last ones I bought were these by Banner. They've gone up in price though Shock. They were £19 when I bought them, which I thought was bad enough.

Try measuring your DS's waist and inside leg and googling Banner.

AnnPerkins · 16/07/2024 13:47

I meant to add, different makes fit differently. Some 34" are too short for DS but the Banner ones were OK.

maldivemoment · 16/07/2024 13:47

Thank you. You’ve all been incredibly helpful.

I’ve gone with the skinny fit from M&S.

The JL ones only go up to age 13. George are sold out & the 2 Tall Clothing would have been a game changer but, apart from his height, our son is still very much in the body of a kid! Teeniest waist imaginable!

For my long legged skinny son I got m&s men's trousers. (For our school I hat to cut the logo off his old trousers and sew on to the m&s ones). More expensive yes but look so much smarter for much longer than 'school trousers'. 30 waist but had adjusters to make them slimmer.

Primark also do a good range of lengths, got ds1 some possibly 28 inch waist 34 inch leg plain black from there for Yr 9. Only black though. And we had to go to aa big branch

maldivemoment · 16/07/2024 13:53

Thank you. Even a 28 inch waist will fall off him! 🙄😬

They never have stock in store. Even in the back to school run up for longer lengths you have to order on line.

WYorkshireRose · 16/07/2024 14:02

DS is younger but has always been tall for his age. We tend to buy the correct leg length and have the waist taken in. Cost around £7/pair for the alterations last time IIRC.

maldivemoment · 16/07/2024 14:22

As an aside. School shirts for our BFG arrived from Next. Horrific amount of packaging! All those daft wee plastic things that hold sleeves together!

Try Hewitts of Croydon. They do boys trousers by waist and by leg measurements, just like adult men’s. Also they deliver.
