Not sure what I’m after? (Alternatives to foundation)

Since having children I barely put anything on my skin make up wise. If I do it’s Rimmel’s Skin Tint in Ivory as it seems to match my skin well. I originally bought it for a daily use thing but I felt like it gave quite a bit of coverage. I don’t think it’s what I’m after for everyday. I’d love something that doesn’t cover my skin but makes it look a bit more even? Kind of a blurred effect maybe? If that makes any sense. I have lots of freckles and am usually on the pale side thanks to my insistence on using factor 50 and keeping out of the sun most of the time (easy to do with this UK summer ☔️ ). My skin is more on the dry side I’d say. Is there a product that’s jumping out at anyone that I could try please? I’ve tried a couple of tinted moisturisers before but found the ones I tried too dark for my skin.

I don't like foundation but use a primer (Rimmel) plus bb cream (L'oreal). It definitely creates the effect you describe, ie subtly better looking skin but not foundation-y.

Glossier skin tint is fab, light coverage and really natural looking

Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten in Porcelain is the only thing pale enough for my deathly pallor that gives that effect.

Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint. I’m pale with freckles too and this gives sheer coverage with a bit of brightening and most importantly, it doesn’t dim my freckles.

I just wear primer and a bit of concealer.

I am also on the pale side and don't like heavy products.

I really like Bali body serum, it's spf30 and has that blurring effect and levels my skin feeling and looking really smooth.

I use givenchy prisme libre powder over a but of primer.
But the best thing really is to invest in your skincare routine, I use a vitamin c serum for glow and barely need much else on my skin .

I use either a mineral powder foundation or a cc cream

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 13/07/2024 01:26

Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter or elf halo glow (dupe). Brightens the complexion with very sheer coverage.

Eborian CC crème

Bare minerals complexion rescue is lovely. It's a bit more ££ but lasts forever. It's like your own skin only better. Gives you an even skin tone and looks like you've nothing on. It's a kind of make up no make up look.

I normally can’t use vit c annoyingly but I have been using maybelline 24 hour skin drops with no trouble - they also have a 4in1 glow twist up which might work. Mixing a bit of glowy primer in with anything makes it lighter - currently using the Selina Gomez (rare beauty) one from Sephora, very like the old becca opal one.

maybelline works for me as I have very pale skin but with yellow undertones.

Very keen to try the hourglass veil!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve got lots to look into and try now.

I just got the Daily Protection BB Cream from Kiko Milano. Doesn’t feel like a mask, evens out skin tone and is SPF30. I love it.
