Product for stray wispy curls in very fine hair?

I have plenty of hair, but the strands are very fine. Styled curls drop out, but there is enough waviness to look a mess.

To much or the wrong product and it gets limp and greasy.

Is there anything that I can use to tame the birds that go mad - especially when it gets wet/ humid?

For example, I'm growing out my fringe because it only looks good when styled, then looks a mess for the rest of the day. My hair needs length for weight.

Is it dry/ greasy or normal?

I would say normal as I manage it now with good shampoo/ conditioner.

If I don't look after it, the roots can get oily and the ends dry.

I have the Aussie leave in conditioner and that works unless my hair gets damp or it is humid.

I wash my hair before bed (hayfever prevention) so in think I'm looking for something that can be added to dry hair (does that exist) rather than wet and then style.

Or can be added to wet hair after I've washed (like the conditioner), but won't do strange things to my hair overnight (like fix or how I've slept on it).

John Frieda does a range of products for fine, frizzy hair called Frizz Ease Weightless Wonder. The Feather light smoothing crème is particularly good and can be used on wet or dry hair plus for touch ups during the day.
With very fine hair, sometimes the best fixing products for keeping it straight are a simple hair gel or even aerosol hairspray and they are relatively cheap as well.
