Calling all hairdressers, quick question if I may?

Am growing out the layers in my hair, although not really wanting to grow the overall length much (is at the base of my neck now). Just had it cut and the hairdresser took "weight" out of my hair by chopping into it with one of those razor type scissor things. I have to admit, my hair looks alot better, like a style rather than just growing out hair.

However, here is the query, she seemed to take quite alot of hair out so that my hair has been thinned quite a bit, but is this not similar to layering? As I am still wanting to grow my hair a little, will this affect the way it looks as it grows? Because obviously I will now have shorter bits amongst the longer hair. How does it work? (By the way I am a little anal about my hair, and worry too much, which is possibly why this may sound like a stupid question). Thanks for reading.

Don't quite understand. She has razored it, which you like - razoring is not layering - but if you want every strand the same don't get it razored.

I wouldn't not have it done tbh.

Razoring or using thinning scissors basically is like layering, it takes the "weight" out of the bottom by cutting some bits shorts, so as your hair grows you will have different lengths, but it is good in the way that you keep some of the length so eventually you grow it out and it will be one length (if thats what you want).

Thanks for your replies, I was having a mini panic attack as my hair is taking bloody centuries to grow. It does look less bottom heavy, which is nicer, but obv I do have shorter wispier bits (not in a bad way). It's just taken so long to grow, as was cropped a few years ago, that I do tend to go all anal whenever I have it cut.

I don't actually want to grow it that much longer, so christ knows what I am whining about anyway!! Thanks for calming me down!!
