Shorts for skinny 17 year old son

Help. He hates shopping. HATES it. He is on the hunt for some Jean shorts, and maybe another kind as well. Though not keen on those cargo type shorts with the giant pockets, and not keen on the other type, that are quite a slender fit.. He is quite skinny in the waist. Like 28/29 I think? We are headed for a shopping centre today and we will both want to get in and out as soon as possible. What do your teens wear? Where do they shop?

Next. My skinny 17 year old son has several pairs from the older boys section. He’s 5’ 9 but last pairs from there bought last week were age 14 and 15. Jersey shorts and also jean type material. We ordered online though

H&M in size XS is usually quite good. A lot of their clothes seem cut for a slender physique. I've had recent luck in Primark too. My son's waist is 26 or 27, but he's quite tall so the kids stuff usually looks wrong (although I'll check out Next now). I try and get everything with a drawstring. Even found denim shorts in Primark with a drawstring. I like zip pocket jogger shorts too so he doesn't lose stuff.

FatFace do a longer leg in a 28" waist. Weird Fish is also with looking at.
