Can I make this hat a bit bigger, to fit my big old head?!

Bought this yesterday from H&M, in size large Blush It kinda fits but a fresh breeze will whip it off my big Scottish heid.
Is there anything I can do to extend the interior, so that it fits a little more snugly and won't fall off?
It sadly didn't come in XL Grin
Thanks.

Was it really cheap? If so you could try unpicking the hat band, it might allow it to give a bit.
I feel your pain, I made my own sun hat in order to get one to fit.

Reduced to £8 in the sale, so not much to lose!
The hatband doesn't sit flush to the hat, if that makes sense. I'm not sure cutting it will make a difference, but I'm happy to try.
Thanks for the empathy Grin💕

Line the crown with a bag. Fill with water and seal. Freeze. When it freezes it will expand and might stretch it? Works with shoes but might not with a more open shape!

Steam or dampen it over a shape a little larger, eg saucepan or bowl. Leave until dry. That's how felt hats used to be made. I'd have thought cotton would stretch. Agree with snipping a few threads under the band to ease it.

When I had this issue I cut a section out of the ribbon band on the interior rim. It meant that the hat could expand with the natural stretch of the material it was made of (think mine is straw.)
I cut an inch section from the back, it also removed the label that was adding some bulk and taking up space.

Thanks all. I've cut out some of the inner ribbon band, which seems to have helped a little.

on top of what you’ve done so far, could you try making it wet and wearing it to dry to the shape of your head

ps I also have a huge head

Steam over a boiling kettle , when warm and damp , let it dry on your head
works honestly
