Without doubt the best one I have ever used is YSL faux effect. really gloopy and thick and makes it look like you have false eyelashes they are sooooo long! ( V expensive though)

FAWKEOFF · 10/04/2008 15:57

how much is the ysl one???? i wont pay more than 20 quid for it

nailpolish · 10/04/2008 15:58

yes i agree with the faux cils ysl one

or the dior backstage one

buying cheap mascara is just cheating yourself

welshmum · 10/04/2008 15:58

I agree with cathers, I'm addicted to my YSL, Ive recently changed to the browny black though as the black made me look too 'done up'

yelpol · 10/04/2008 16:00

I've also YSL faux cils and it was about £18 I think (but not waterproof, but then I never noticed it running down my face anyway). And now I love Lancome Hynose (or however it's spelt)- about the same price as YSL. Recently I've been using eyelash curlers which I always thought were a gimmick, but they REALLY work. Also, as far as cheapies go, I like Maybelline Volume Express (in a navy tube). I have always been on a mission to find the perfect mascara and I think YSL and Lancome are the best.

LadySanders · 10/04/2008 16:02

dior blackout, 17 quid ish, not gloopy or clumpy, doesn't have bits in it but really lengthens

shall be making a trip to debenhams tomorrow then...i am just pissed of with buying mascaras that are 7 to 8 quid and are utter shit....for the amount i buy in acouple of months i might as well invest in a decent one that i will be happy with

clinique naturally glossy.
is ONLY one which doesnt clump on my lashes and look all unnatural.
doesnt seem to dry out for about a year either.

luvaduck · 10/04/2008 16:16

what about a good cheapie? any suggestions
gutted - just discovered maybelline owned by nestle (as is lancome)

FAWKEOFF · 10/04/2008 16:33

ive tried maybelline and i dont rate it at all personally, im not bothered about buying a reasonable priced mascara i just want one that is going to work well

I know you said no to Maybelline but their UNSTOPPABLE is really great, the best I've tried and I have tried a lot as I have eyelashes like a piglet.

FAWKEOFF · 10/04/2008 18:12

lol maidamess i cant remember which one i bought from maybelline but it had a pink package....utter shit and it put me off their brand full stop...i dont know if i can go back

maidamess · 10/04/2008 18:15

You bought the one that EVERYONE buys, which is rubbish. The Unstoppable one does not smudge, but comes off easily. it has a fab brush,it isn't too wet (which gives you spider lashes), and I love it!

I buy mine on ebay, as Boots seem to have stopped it. I bought 3 for £10 last week.

Maybelline and Lancôme are owned by l'Oréal, not Nestlé.

turquoise · 10/04/2008 18:27

Isn't L'oreal owned by Nestle though?

For a cheaper option I really recommend Boots No 7 - all their range are good but if you want mega lashes, Lash Extensions is the one, Intense Volume for everyday. Don't bother with Dream Lash, gloopy IMO. I have really sensitive, allergic eyes (maybelline made them EXPLODE) and have no problem with these.

Anna8888 · 10/04/2008 18:29

No, L'Oréal is not owned by Nestlé.

They are two entirely separate consumer goods groups.

luvaduck · 10/04/2008 18:31

maybelline l'oreal lancome redkin biotherm all on the baby milk action boycott list (really sorry for therad hijack)

kikid · 10/04/2008 18:31

try aldi, £3 & fab

Anna8888 · 10/04/2008 18:43

The L'Oréal group owns the Maybelline, Lancôme, Biotherm, Redken and L'Oréal Paris brands (among many, many others).

I can only imagine that L'Oréal is on the Baby Milk Action boycott list because of its JV with Nestlé for food supplements.

I like Astonishing Lengths by Avon, it's really nice. And I'm using a No 7 one at the moment but you have to apply several coats if you like it a bit thicker which I do.
