Co-washing advice (hair!)

I've got curly hair which is inclined to be dry and at the moment is unpleasantly frizzy.

I wet it every day (sometimes a rinse, sometimes just spraying) and put a small amount of leave-in conditioner on. I shampoo it once every 6-8 days, largely because the leave in conditioner accumulates, then always use rinse out conditioner followed by my usual blob of leave in stuff. I always let it air dry. Despite that the frizz is increasing! I hate putting loads of products on so don't want to add to that regime.

I'm in a soft water area; it's a lot worse when I'm staying elsewhere and use harder water.

I'm thinking instead of leaving off the shampoo altogether and just cowashing it with conditioner, nothing else, and see if that helps the frizz. Does anyone else here do that? Does it have the desired effect? Does it actually get your hair and scalp clean? Do you still need to shampoo occasionally?

Have you tried a hair oil?

I know it sounds counterintuitive but wash it more often, use a gentle non-sulphate shampoo, conditioner and hair oil as mentioned above. Try a hydrating hair mask once a week too instead of conditioner.

You're getting a build-up of leave in conditioner in your hair which can't be good for it.
