Has anyone tried them? Is the hype just that or are they genuinely amazing and transformative?

I am 47 years old peri-menopausal light skinned mixed race, prone to dry cheeks and occasional small breakouts on chin area. Generally sensitive skin (cannot wear make up).

I'm after a daily sunscreen for the face that doesn't feel sticky or like it's laying on the surface of my skin, and that I don't end up tasting every time I take a sip of water.

Would love to know of others' experience before shelling out £££ please 🙏

I use the Beauty of Joseph factor 50 sunscreen every day and absolutely love it. No white cast, no sore eyes, doesn’t make my skin sensitive or spotty. I can’t recommend it enough.

Thanks @countbackfromten. Is that a typo for Beauty if Joseon? That's the exact brand I was looking at

*OF Joseon. Oh, the irony...

I got a snail mucus one that made my rosacea terrible so not recommend that!

alpinia · 03/07/2024 15:27

I can't say it's exactly transformative but I love the Some by Mi factor 50 hydrogel. It's in an orange and white bottle. It's a very light gel with a slightly citrus scent. I have very sensitive skin and find this brand very good in general.

Recommendations from KBeautyMag. 2024. No3 is mineral so might leave a white cast.
My understanding is that Beauty of Joseon isn't that popular in South Korea itself, but is well marketed abroad.

Here are three standout Korean sunscreens to consider adding to your summer skincare arsenal:

  1. COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++: This hydrating sunscreen shields your skin from the sun and nourishes it with aloe leaf extract. It’s perfect for those who want sun protection and soothing skincare in one product.
  2. MISSHA All-Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF45/PA+++: Offering broad-spectrum protection, this sunscreen has a hydrating essence that moisturizes the skin while defending against UV rays. It’s perfect for dry skin types and doesn’t leave a white cast.
  3. Dr.Jart+ Every Sun Day Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+: This mineral sunscreen is ideal for sensitive skin types, offering powerful protection without irritating. It contains Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide for broad-spectrum UV protection and is free from harsh chemicals.

Plse ignore that url. Don't know how it got added to the post!!

BestestBrownies · 03/07/2024 16:39

Thank you @kdramaqueen. Have you used any if those yourself at all? The Aloe Vera one sounds interesting.

Interesting that the BOJ is more for the foreign market

Haha yes beauty of joseon! 🤦🏼‍♀️

paristotokyo · 03/07/2024 17:10

I love them and most of my stash is made up k-beauty. Also love the beauty of joseon spf, it's fab. I love the hada labo (actually Japanese and not Korean) premium essence (blue bottle with tranexamic acid). Don't be afraid when they saying 'whitening' as what they mean is brightening. Makes my skin look flawless when I use it consistently. I also love skin1004 centella Madagascar serum, it's very soothing and hydrating for my dry sensitive skin. Their water fit spf is also great. I use oil cleanser by kose (pink bottle) which gets absolutely everything off but feels so gentle. Hmm I could go on Grin

Love my Korean products. Cheaper than my Kiehl’s and Clinique and giving me better results.
This is an Australian brand, and expensive, but absolutely the best sunscreen ever.

I highly recommend the green one, the weightless gel.

@BestestBrownies I actually use La Roche-Posay (invisible) and keep a blue Kahi sunscreen stick in my handbag for touchups.

That CosrX aloe vera one is getting top reviews on several sites.
I plan on trying out the Abib quick protection sunstick next, as it's much cheaper than Kahi and getting good reviews.

Being made for the export market doesn't mean it's a bad product, so if you do go for the Beauty of Joseon one, it's cheaper at Superdrug, than Boots.
