What can I wear instead of foundation that gives good coverage

I've tried so many different foundations and they all make my face look really dry and cakey. I want something that make me looks glowy. I've been using Vita Liberata tinted moisturiser which I love but I find it doesn't give great coverage like foundation. Does anyone have any recommendations? Can I use the tinted moisture along side something else maybe?

Watching! I used to use Soap and Glory Glow Job but they stopped making it a few years back and I can't find a good substitute sadly.

This works for me: some drops of rosehip
oil left to sink in then apply foundation mixed with moisturiser afterwards. If I want more coverage, I add a little amount of foundation on top. Took me years to get to a routine that worked!

Dr jart cicapair. It’s AMAZING.

Ifyouhavetoask99 · 30/06/2024 19:59

I’ve been using Estée Lauder revitalizing supreme CC crème - it’s like a tinted moisturizer but gives a lovely glowy appearance - I think the coverage is quite good. It’s a bit on the pricey side but can look around for deals on it.

Dr jart cicapair. It’s AMAZING.

That stuff separates like mad on my face!

Erborian bb cream is great. The cc cream is great too but lighter coverage.

AnotherUdderName · 30/06/2024 20:08

TBH if you want good coverage, foundation is what you need. The only other options are CC creams or tinted moisturiser with concealer where needed, and translucent powder.

Which brands have you tried? Even some of the high st brands have options- L'Oreal True Match, some Boots No 7...

I've gone back to Bobbi Brown Foundation stick which if you use a buffer brush to blend it, goes on very lightly.

It could be that you're not blending your foundation properly and it's sitting on your skin.

I've been using a CC cream but it feels a bit greasy

Might try the rosehip thing, what about putting some powder over that

I use the Erborian BB cream too.

I recently tried the Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter and actually really like it. I'm not a full face makeup wearer so just that on its own gave some light coverage and glow, which was great. Apparently the elf dupe has better coverage and is also much cheaper.

Also korean BB creams - better coverage than tinted moisturiser and feels more like skincare compared to western brands.

The L'Oreal true match serum foundation. I know you said something that isn't a foundation but this stuff is honestly amazing. It's suits my normally oily skin and also suits my dry skin im experiencing due to an allergic reaction to something else. It's very, very light weight but evens out my skin tone and covers any blemishes. Never thought I'd like something like this as I was always more keen on matte foundations.

Dr jart cicapair. It’s AMAZING.

I also love this! A little goes a long way too!

WhyamInotvomiting · 30/06/2024 20:30

Years ago I used to use a BB cream from The Body Shop that I found pretty good. I wore pressed powder over the top too though, partly for a bit more coverage and partly because my skin at the time was generally pretty oily (was an acne sufferer). Might be worth a try.

This, I've recently started wearing it as I'm fed up of foundation and this stuff is really good.

It's all in the primer.

Make sure face is scrubbed and moisturised regularly. I love pure argan oil every night.

Then "water jelly" primer by Nars is INSANE.

Slather it on and let it set and then mix some some more with your foundation - I use Sephora "best skin ever" foundation which is dewy.

I find 50/50 water jelly and best skin ever foundation is perfect for a smooth dewy daytime finish

As someone that’s tried every premium luxury brand under the sun, I have settled on absolutely loving No7 stuff. They do a great range of bb/cc cream tinted moisturiser type products. I love their Hydra Luminous Skin Perfector and the Beauty Balm Tinted Skin Veil. I’ve bought both multiple times and is now my go-to as I hate foundation.

VillageLifeIsTricky · 01/07/2024 11:18

Another vote for No.7 Hydra Luminous foundation. I always go back to it, the glow is incomparable.

Oblomov24 · 01/07/2024 11:21

I struggle to get enough coverage.

PregnantNowScrewed · 01/07/2024 11:28

And another vote for No 7 hydra luminous - I much prefer it to my Charlotte Tilbury foundation. It is light but gives a really nice glow.

Jones Road What the Foundation. Less foundation, more skincare with colour.

It's a bit marmite though, get a tester pot first.

Menora · 01/07/2024 21:35

I have tried everything and my absolute favourite thing ever is IT cosmetics nude glow CC cream. I think because it is my perfect colour match, I have an uneven skin tone so it completely smooths this out, gives me a glow, doesn’t clog and all my redness is gone. It’s semi build able, I can get it to cover the odd acne spot but it’s very light and blendable and other make up sits well on it. I don’t really like proper foundations anymore I feel they create more problems than I started with when they start to crease and clag up

I have tried no 7 but for me it’s the CC element I need with the IT cosmetics one but I would try a CC cream from boots if I couldn’t find this one anymore (after I stop crying)

I would go and get a ton of samples take them home and try them out this is what I did when I was searching for mine.

KasperBells · 05/07/2024 00:35

I use a NARS one- pure radiant tinted moisturiser. It gives good coverage for me, lovely natural finish and I just use a bit of concealer around my nose and under eyes. If you have a space NK or similar try and get a sample pot. Don’t buy anything until you have worn it for a few days and know you like it. I have wasted a fortune on foundations over the years only to realise I don’t really like them once I’m home!!

I’m planning on trying the Jones Road WTF foundation too, as a lifelong foundation hater!

Pinkstanley · 05/07/2024 05:36

Garnier spf50 glow. Really pleased with it day to day. If I want a bit more then Boerfect chroma luminous has worked well for me.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 05/07/2024 05:50
