Which (UK) brands work for a quality, classic ‘European’ style?

Shopping with my (super stylish, obvs) French half sister in Paris today reminded me how different the styles in Europe (okay, France) and the UK are. I found some gorgeous linen pants and a silk shirt in The Kooples and really struggle to find clothes like this in the UK. I know we are more casual in the UK, but I really don’t feel great in many of the casual styles and feel awesome in a silk shirt.

I like Hobbs’ more simple and tailored styles, Poetry for cashmere, Boden, Albaray and Jigsaw now and again and The Fold for a treat dress. I can’t afford designer clothes, more middle-upper high street.

Any thoughts for other brands I can try?

My chic European colleagues often wear Sezanne but normally from Vinted rather than full price.

Ooh. I’ve seen a couple of Sezanne bags on the street today. I might have a look.

Vinted is a good shout to try out a brand too.

Cheaper end:

H&M (use their “material” filter to look for natural fibres)
La Redoute (ditto)

Middle-upper

Wrap
Wyse
Sezane (although must admit I’ve been disappointed in my orders)
Ba&sh (pricey but good sales)
Me&Em (pricey but good sales)
White Company
John Lewis own brand for basics

Thanks. There are a few here I’ve not heard of and a few more I’ve wandered into and bough bits from now and again.

I will definitely broaden out for autumn.

I think doing my clothes shopping in London rather than in a rush online or home in Cambridge might help!

I walked past one yesterday but didn’t go in. I’ll nip in for a browse if I pass one today. Thank you!
