Help!!! School Mum's night out, what to wear?!

Hi stylish types, please help me!

My DC is starting reception September and a few of the mum's from our nursery (and going to the same primary) are wanting to do a night out, probably about 6 or 7 of us so not the whole intake.

Now some of these Mum's are very well turned out, always look effortlessly stylish and great hair and we're in a quite posh area (imagine Alderley edge in Cheshire as a reference). I used to be fairly well turned out in my 20s but I'm 40 and since having a kid am more of a tshirt and jeans person.

I have no idea what is stylish anymore, especially for someone my age (not that I feel old, but I can't wear what the "kids" are wearing IYKWIM) and also I have a very limited budget. Can anyone help dress me so I don't stick out like a sore thumb? BTW I'm sure these Mum's are lovely and won't care what I wear I just want to look nice for my own self esteem and to make a bit of an effort to fit in.

I'm 5'5, 40, 10stone 10 (25 BMI but I do not carry my weight well), size 10/12 bottom 12/14 top, 34DD. Slightly broader shoulder to hip ratio. Big tummy (the sort where you look a bit pregnant and I have been asked), short neck, narrow hips, great legs but developed a varicose vein at the top of one of my calf's during pregnancy.

I know people suggest empire line clothing for bigger tummies, but they make me look huge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou and hope this gets some replies. xx

What about a jumpsuit. Loads of different colours and patterns available and you can wear it a couple of different ways to suit. Could dress up with heels or go more casual with flats or even trainers.

Oooh you know what I like the idea of a jump suit! That's a great shout!

I saw this the other day and thought it was nice and would work well with some pretty gold accessories

Thankyou @Springishere2023 love the colour, although wish it had a short sleeve (although finding sleeves that don't aren't puffy or wide accentuating my broader shoulders and short neck, is difficult 😅)

I was going to say jump suit.

OR some nice silky wide leg palazzo trousers with a nice t shirt/vest top. So comfy and easy to wear.

I have 3 of this brand's jumpsuits and they're so comfortable and flattering!
I wore one for my dd's christening and wore a little vest under it so it wasn't too revealing. The fabric is heavy so it just hangs perfectly, and it has pockets!

Oh I love this! I also have a dress from Jolie Moi that's really flattering (although bought 7 years ago pre kids when I used to work out and was a stone lighter) but I think this would really suit me now!

I'm so glad I posted thankyou all so much! Xx
