Salt-Water sandals anyone?

Considering getting a pair of these mainly for dog walks on the beach.

Are they 100% waterproof in, er, salt water?
And are they comfortable?

They are horribly uncomfortable

NoNeedToArgue · 27/06/2024 18:56

They are the most comfortable sandals I've ever had! Bought some white ones last summer, wore them all the time, they still look as good as new. I love them.

SudExpresso · 27/06/2024 18:59

Horrifically uncomfortable to break in and have no arch support whatsoever.
They're very marmite and not recommended for anyone who needs any kind of foot support.

Youdontevengohere · 27/06/2024 19:01

I had a pair that lasted 5 years and I loved them, they were the most comfortable sandals I’ve owned. I can see that they wouldn’t be comfortable if you need arch support though.

Youdontevengohere · 27/06/2024 19:02

Oh and they were comfortable from the start and didn’t need breaking in.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 27/06/2024 19:06

I wear them every summer. But sandals on the beach don't really work for me...they flip up sand as you walk.I haven't tried them in water. They are super comfy to me and no breaking in ever needed. They are completely flat though so I see why others might not get on with them.If you need support get Tevas?

CarrieMoonbeams · 27/06/2024 19:07

I found them really comfortable straight away too, and I'm the sort of person who gets blisters breaking in a pair of socks! Well not quite, but you know what I mean.

I've had mine since 2019 I think. They've been in the sea several times on holiday, I've walked for miles in them on city breaks, and they're my day to day sandals at home too.

purser25 · 27/06/2024 19:12

I have wide feet and couldn't do up the ankle strap

MynameisJune · 27/06/2024 19:15

I’ve got wide feet, had mine about a month, no breaking in required.

They do an adult version with a better sole now if arch support is a problem. I can wear mine all day and have no problems. Much comfier than I expected.

darksigns · 27/06/2024 19:22

The most uncomfortable footwear I’ve ever worn. The complete lack of arch support was agonising after a couple of day’s wear, and they also gave me blisters.

shardlakem · 27/06/2024 19:39

They seemed quite poor quality when I looked at some in the shops, and very flat... have just got some tevas and they seem super comfy so far and have support!

Tisfortired · 27/06/2024 19:41

Had mine for years (the tan ones) wear them all summer and they still look brand new. Have used for days out, in the water, nights out on holiday and they still look great. I find them very comfy although they are completely flat so it depends if that bothers you.

Everygrain · 27/06/2024 19:43

The boardwalk Saltwaters look the same but have a thicker sole

Jackdog39 · 27/06/2024 19:53

I have had both the sliders and the traditional sandals for years and they still look brand new. I have high arches and I find them really comfortable. If you like converse which are completely flat you will like saltwater sandals too. Well I do.

DappledThings · 27/06/2024 19:58

I find them very comfortable although not as much as my old Birkenstock sandals. Mine are in my 3rd year and still look new so they're hard-wearing.

bingohandjob · 27/06/2024 20:16

I've had them,I really loved the look of them and initially they were comfortable and easy to wear but following a sudden onset bout of Plantar fasciitis I couldn't face ever wearing them again and sold them on eBay. I looked up the new soft sole ones but everything I read said that soft sole was over egging it and they were still very flat. Personally,I need a bit more support.

Mairzydotes · 27/06/2024 20:20

I've never had blisters from mine , but the soles are so slippy.
