HELP!!! Hair disaster!

fircone · 09/04/2008 16:17

My hair is dark blonde. I thought I'd liven it up with some home highlights.

The effect is worse than disastrous. I am in tears. I have BRIGHT ORANGE stripes in my hair. I am not exaggerating. Ds said I looked totally weird. I look like a chavvy tiger.

What should I do? Can I apply a permanent dye over the top? Should I dye it darker or blonder? I have to do something!

I used Garnier home highlighting kit. I left it on for 30 mins.

hairdresser

it will be worth the money

fircone · 09/04/2008 16:21

the kit was on special offer for £2.95. Serves me right, I expect. that and my £12.50 hairdo last week.

well as a hairdresser myself i advise you to go see one!
don't know if you had hair dye already on your hair before using the kit but the highlights have not lifted the colour out it goes orange before yellowish colour and eventually blonde.

cocolepew · 09/04/2008 16:22

Sorry I laughed at chavvy tiger. You can buy stuff to take brassiness out of it, but can't remember what it's callrd . Just stick a dye over the top of it.

MissyTheFlouncer · 09/04/2008 16:22

where abouts are you? anywhere near bedfordshire?

peanutbear · 09/04/2008 16:23

this happened to me once I to would suggest going to a hairdresser but shop around if you can because it cost me a fortune to have put right and I found out it could have been done much cheaper

MissyTheFlouncer · 09/04/2008 16:23

if you put dye over top then it will take differently to what you have already coloured you may make it worse. i would go to hairdresers

flowerybeanbag · 09/04/2008 16:26

definitely go to a hairdresser, they'll have seen similar home disasters millions of times I'm sure.

I did also let out a teeny snigger at 'chavvy tiger', v sorry

fircone · 09/04/2008 16:45

I guess I should go to a hairdresser. But I am going to Italy tomorrow, so I shall have to wear a scarf over my head, Sophia Loren-style, to hide the embarrassment that was once my hair.

Sniff! I had quite nice hair, too, I wish I hadn't mucked about with it.

It sounds like you washed it too early, yhair goes funy colours before it becomes blonde.

Mine once went green, I wept like a baby.

This happened to me, actually same product too if I recall rightly although was a few years ago now..... Hairdresser is deff best option.
