Ds1 has timberland trainers, never crossed my mind they might be chavvy, they were v cheap in TK MAXX

pooka · 09/04/2008 12:40

I think there is potential there - if said boots are pristine and/or pastel coloured.
Mine are tan and were bought in 2000 so NOT pristine.

lol - I have some ... have had them for years (v.v hard wearing) - perhaps it is my inner chav making itself known ?

S1ur · 09/04/2008 12:40

Didn't they used to be a bit posha dn outdoorsy?

pooka · 09/04/2008 12:41

Yes

S1ur · 09/04/2008 12:42

like Britney Heh. I'm guessing that's a chav validation then.

nailpolish · 09/04/2008 12:43

i had a pair about ten years ago when hey were 'fashionalbe'

would nt buy them now

sweetkitty · 09/04/2008 12:43

I have a pair of tan ones bought in the US at a fraction on the price (oh and they are actually childrens the joys of having small feet) haven't wore them in ages as I hate driving in them.

DP suggested I get a pair of pink ones and I said I am a 32 yo mother of 2 not a 16 yo! Sadly I think I am too old for them now.

ScienceTeacher · 09/04/2008 12:44

No, because I wear them - dark brown hiking boots, well used.

GetOrfMoiLand · 09/04/2008 12:44

Don't think they are chavvy necessarily, but they are terminally uncool.

BetteNoir · 09/04/2008 12:46

I have a pair of tan Timberland boots, like Pooka.
Got them a couple of years ago, when it snowed a lot.
I wear them with jeans when walking the dog.
Hadn't thought about their chav possibilities.
But also didn't know they used to be fashionable.

Oliveoil · 09/04/2008 12:48

I had them when I was a raver about 300 years ago

the only ones I see now are on lads who wear them with baggy pants and the shoelaces undone

I live in hope that they trip

CrackerOfNuts · 09/04/2008 12:53

Ds has a pair of Timberland boots and i don't care if they are chavvy or not because they are the most hardwearing boots he has ever had and i'd definatly buy him another pair when he outgrows them.

Such an obsession with what is and isn't chavvy on here lately.

Novicecamper · 09/04/2008 12:55

I have tan timberland boots that I wear mostly on teh school run with jeans. I don't think they look chavvy but then they are on me and I'm not chavvy

Depends who is wearing them and what with.

Novicecamper · 09/04/2008 12:56

Oh no, don't like coloured ones.

Mine are a few years old so have splash marks etc on them which is why I wear them on school run - cos I'm not bothered about them getting marked now.

Novicecamper · 09/04/2008 12:58

Ugg boots OTOH - yikes.
Currently trying to direct my friend away from buying some.

MrsBadger · 09/04/2008 13:00

I can't help feeling the suede ones are, a bit

I mean they are tough boots for getting muddy in, yes?
suede defeats the object

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 13:04

I have Timberland boots - don't think they look chavvy though. They are pael pink and a bit worn now; wear them with my jeans occasionally.

DD had them in the past.

pooka · 09/04/2008 14:56

But the suede ages and gets a patina. The only thing putting me off getting a new pair is the initial wearing them in stage. I don't like it when they look too too new. But when they're a bit battered, I think they are brilliant and understated. Wear with jeans for school run, for muddy walks, for gardening. For just about everything that doesn't require smart smart smart.
Not keen on coloured ones. think they look a bit bleurgh.

oliviaelanasmum · 09/04/2008 14:58

I have the pink suede ones and i love them, they are comfy and hardwearing.

hereagain · 09/04/2008 15:06

Agree with Pooka 100% and same here regarding wearing mine and their condition!

Wouldn't be without them.

Also agree with NoviceCamper - depends who is wearing them and with what!
Most things have the potential to look chavy if in chavy circumstance do they not?!
