If you didn't have the money for Loewe or Bottega Veneta but wanted a really nice, well made handbag (or two) with quality leather that will be both durable and stylish what brands would you be looking at?

A black every day bag to take to work and a smaller neutral colour bag for going out.

Not a suggestion OP but wanted you to know that not all LVs are tacky. I have several, none of which are canvas or sport the very obvious patterns/logo. One had staff in a store arguing about its authenticity when one member of staff recognised it but as it's a limited edition (retired - now the same price used as it was new) the other staff didn’t! After a little research they learned something about their own product range! I love the quality of the leather and stitching and the bag is pretty indestructible having been in use every day for 14 years...

I hope you find something you'll love as much as I love mine!

When was this? They weren't in the summer sale I don't think. Very envious.

It was July in Manchester. I’d actually seen one in the Mulberry shop in Leeds but I was looking for accessories for my cousins wedding. I picked up a gorgeous bag, quite slouchy with a flap & said to the assistant one day I will have one of these & she told me it was £800. It was smaller than the one I did buy.

I didn’t buy it because my money was allocated to the wedding outfit and I really regretted it. So when we were in Selfridges about a month later the assistant showed me this one. It was the one that had been on display but was in perfect condition. Originally reduced to £1,200 then reduced again.

I really like Sage Brown. They do lovely colours (I know you wanted black and neutral) and they are very well made. They are quite classic in style, more like early Mulberry.

Thank you for this thread OP!
I have no idea what kind of bag to buy as find so many look like we would call "little old lady" bags which are fine if you look young and/or funky/cool.
But now I'm older I find it so hard to find a bag which is not covered in gold.

@botemp - thank you for the link to TSATSAS. Never heard of this brand and will definitely be purchasing something.

That looks lovely. I like the leather too - I'm not keen on some of the other large grain leathers they are doing at the moment.

I recently took the plunge and got a BV from a second hand consignment store in Denmark - it was marked as "good" but honestly it is almost like new and at least 50-60% cheaper if not more than brand new. I would really recommend them

Flannels in Leeds are having a relocation sale. I might have succumbed
