Help me look amazing, day/night party late 50's lady

Hi all

Going to a fairly posh garden party/night time disco event in August.

I'm late 50's, short (5'2") and a size 16.

I had a floaty summer dress in mind with sandals.

However my Niece has suggested trainers are the thing to wear.

I have a new pair of Addidas, white eith silver stripes so I'm now thinking silver midi skirt. I have no idea what to wear on top half though.

I've seen this skirt and wondered how easy it is to wear/wrap. Also thinking it may highlight my wobbly bits

White blouse doesn't feel dressy enough so wondered about the camisole then shirt over for when sun goes down

Help please!

A white shirt and silver skirt sounds perfect (as long as the skirt isn’t anything you might wear to work.) Silk pyjama type trousers would also be excellent.

But unless you’re prepared to wear white socks reaching halfway up your calves I would swerve the trainers. Flat or kitten heeled mules, or Mary Jane shoes at your preferred height would be far better.

Yep either pointy slingbacks with a mid heel or chunky sandals depending on your taste. Camisole with wide straps sounds lovely if you don't mind arms out? I like arms out on any size but know some people don't.

If it's very trendy/ emphasis on the disco, trainers would work but then I'm thinking boilersuit in super luxe fabric or wide trousers and structured top, neither of which are very easy to wear at any size?

Floaty summer skirts seem to have come round again but I thunk we look like we're wearing them for the second time around sadly

Thanks for the replies. Think I'm going to try the skirt pictured with matching camisole. I can take the shirt and trainers in tote bag for later and go for sandals during the day.

Anyone tried a Jaspere skirt who had a very flabby/ padded middle section?

Imo the skirt dominates and makes the wearer look heavy hipped, so a longer top is needed

That's my worry I think. I'm already broad in that area. Thinking the slip skirt version may be more forgiving

I've seen the NFD skirts in store, they have stretch which is good but fairly bulky around the middle, worth trying on but a silky/satin one may sit flatter on the mid section .

I think a midi dress would look better - . a skirt will cut you in half
