Adidas Spezials or Gazelles

I just received a pair of Converse Run Star trainers in blue and green. The look beautiful, but are not nearly as comfy as my Nike Cortez. I’m returning them (turns out Office don’t have free returns Grrrr). I’m looking for some ‘not chunky’ blue trainers. Spezials and Gazelles both look right. I have problems with my feet though. Can anyone who has tried both tell me how they compare for comfort?

Haven't tried Gazelles, my Spezials are very comfy but they have a very high instep so thats something to keep in mind.

If you have foot issues avoid Adidas like the plague. They have high insteps which I thought would be fab for my high arches - no! They make my tendonitis flare up terribly.

Nike far better I’ve found, or New Balance

Hmmm, interesting. I’m actually slightly flatfooted, have a history of planter fasciitis and left foot very painful tendinitis as it goes into the heel 😳 I’m reluctant to order anything I don’t know fits well now. It’s just cost £9.90 to return some to Office because I wanted the value of the insured and the basic post only covers £20!

Adidas Campis 00's are super comfy.

AnnieSnap · 22/06/2024 10:55

@skippy67 I have been considering them, but they are chunkier than I wanted and don’t seem to come in pastel colours 😔

I find Gazelles narrow (I do have a wide foot though!) and Spezials very comfy. Fellow PF sufferer here and my most comfortable trainers are NB 574s if that’s any use. I returned trainers to Office recently and it didn’t cost anything like that!

Agree with poster above - NB 574s are ridiculously comfortable! I'm never sure if they are considered 'in' but me and DP have matching pairs so there's really no hope of ever looking cool 😂

I love the look of Gazelles but really not comfy in comparison. I find them hard on the soles and very little cushioning.

This. If the converse aren't comfy maybe you have wide feet? I do and find my Nike AFones the only trainer I can wear.

Did you ask for postage that covered the value of the trainers? My DH took them to the post office and the woman did say Royal Mail had just ‘restructured’ (increased) their prices again 🙄 I’ll be using Evri in future.

@ladygindiva I don’t have wide feet, but I’m sensitive to any ‘hardness’ and I found the backs, under the heal to be, not hard exactly, but not as soft as I like (Princess and the pea 🙄).

I've got plantar faciittis. Have about ten pairs of Adidas superstars.
I get arch support insoles from eBay.

They're the only trainers I've found that are deep enough to take my foot and the insole.
I wish I could wear something else but it is what it is.
I've been wearing these since the 90's anyway so luckily I do like them!

The Adidas sole can be removed and the laces pulled sufficiently for good support.
