Peep toe shoes for work - an office faux pas?

I was just wondering whether you can get away with peep toe shoes for the office, or are they not very 'corporate'?

Obviuously your hooves would need to be manicured to within an inch of their life...

I hope so because I have my favourite peep toe wedges from Hobbs in six different colours . My shoes are worth more than my car

I think possibly a peep of toe is ok. But only one or two and no top of toes iykwim.

ScaryHairy · 08/04/2008 20:58

A little peep is fine as long as the shoes don't look cheap and your toenails are nice.

But please don't peep with tights on. It's ridiculous and amazingly common.

What very liberal offices you work in ...

Here I do think it might be a case for instant termination

margoandjerry · 08/04/2008 21:06

ooh quattro where do you work? Perhaps I have read my office all wrong.

My office is quite conservative but I'm thinking/hoping the peep toe will be ok because otherwise I'm going to have to wear normal shoes and sheer tights or, even worse - those mini sockette things and I don't think I could stand it.

Erm probably shouldn't name the firm online - would be tantamount to outing
myself in an instant - large legal firm

margoandjerry · 08/04/2008 21:11

that's what I was guessing.

I notice all our lawyers dress extremely conservatively - much more so than any one else we work with (I'm in finance).

ScaryHairy · 08/04/2008 21:12

I was at a very stuffy firm and did get away with mild peep, but it was with a very straight trouser suit so the rest of me was very covered up.
I also had no client meetings that day!

chonky · 08/04/2008 21:32

LOL at mild peep. I think in the height of summer mild peep might be OK for where I work (financial services firm). at M&J's shoes.

those of you who may not peep, do you have to wear sheer tights all summer?

Just wondering what the summer shoe option is.

ScaryHairy · 08/04/2008 22:44

If not peeping and not wearing a long skirt I would wear tights (or hold ups) unless it was so horribly hot I could not bear it.

You can always put them on once you get into the air con.

chonky · 09/04/2008 07:19

AGree with SH. Definitely no tights with peep, but v.v.sheer for non-peeping days.

Aaahh, I'm glad my summer shoe dilemma has been resolved.
