So, for reasons, I shaved my head in February (I don’t have cancer). It’s now over an inch long and still sticking out like a hedgehog. I really thought it would have flattened out by now.

Does anyone have recommendations for what I can use to tame it a bit? Previously I’ve always had at least shoulder length hair so this is a new scenario for me!

The sticking up everywhere is probably because you didn’t have an expert barber who would have gone with the various directions your hair grows in. (I forget the technical term.)

So whatever products you use are only going to be marginally effective.

What length do you want it to be, going forward? You can DIY if it’s very short (like No 2 clippers) but if you want it to look good at an inch I’d go to a good barber and get it trimmed right down so you can start again!

Well, I want it to be a shoulder length bob, eventually. So I’m not really planning to cut it. Also, I’m not sure what difference it makes which way you cut it when it’s shaved down to nothing!

Okay … I think you said this was a new thing for you?

Anyway, I know about short hair, not shoulder length bobs - so I’ll leave it to others to assist you!

I have a number 4 all over. I use Dax red wax or Black & White pomade. Rub the Dax 5 (pence worth in size) vigorously between your palms and then I smooth it over all my hair and sort of pinch and tweak and arrange it. The Black & White is softer so you can just rub it in your palms.
