Cropped wide leg trousers

Have just bought some black wide leg crops and wondering how to style them. I'm unused to such a baggy leg and feel a bit self conscious but want to wear a new shape. I'm guessing fitted tops to balance them out? They are these https://www.fatface.com/women/clothing/trousers/mina-crop-trousers/0002562.html?dwvar00025622_color=BLACK but I'm having them taken up a couple of inches as despite long legs, they weren't quite right on me

They look lovely. I like the way they’ve been styled in the picture with a blouse tucked in. And the sash means you don’t need a belt. I think too fitted a top (like a fitted t-shirt) might look a bit dated and unforgiving. I know the ‘rule’ was always looser on the bottom,, fitted up top, but I think silhouettes have changed, and just a waistline in the middle looks good now.

I think I might get those trousers now I’ve seen them!

To be honest I have such a short body that I probably won't wear the waist tie as it adds bulk which isn't flattering on me. And that issue also makes blouses not a great option as there isn't room below my boobs for the excess fabric! My body shape is very annoying and prob the reason I've stuck to other trouser shapes in the past

I am.not a fan of cropped trousers, I always think I look like I've grown out of them!

I like those trousers. I recently got some slightly cropped vest tops to wear with my wide-leg ones once the weather warms up. I also have a linen shirt from Zara which is slightly cropped and tied at the front. If you have a flatter belly than me (or just care less than me) I'd go for a bra-style top with an open shirt on top

I think any very long tops won't work as you'll need to tuck in so much material, and if you are worried about bulk, it'll add more along the waist.

I wear mine with t-shirts tucked in or cropped crochet tops with vest underneath.

v nice! With a top as styled (nice shirt that isn't too baggy) or indeed a tighter form fitted top. They need to show the waist

Or tight strappy vest with a small cardigan open at front

Thanks all, love these ideas. And I love them with sandals but will they work with trainers too?

Same here!
Cropped trousers always look ridiculous on me
( long legs- but not especially tall (5.8”)

However, some body shapes can carry off cropped trousers well - I’m definitely not one of them!

I wear mine with colorful trainers and a cropped plain coloured tee shirt.
Alternatively, something like a light cotton or linen shell top always looks good as the top's hem just grazes the top of the trousers.

@GracieGrowler Ah well, I'll have to order it now!

Nice trousers! Nice vest! I’m contemplating a similar pair of trousers, with one of those vests that has buttons on the front like a waistcoat, and maybe a short canvas jacket

I’m 5ft 2 and 34 H so I wear them with a fitted top and a denim jacket.
