Shapewear or corset for protruding belly

My belly/midriff pokes out rather generously. I have an event to attend this summer and would like to minimise it somehow. The worst bit is the middle area, from under boob down to waist. If I could get this to cinch in slightly them dresses would fit better on me. Can anyone recommend some shapewear please. I was thinking something like a corset might work but not sure if they are a thing nowadays? Also concerned that I might have fat unattractively bulging over the top. And also concerned about discomfort!

Definitely don't do a corset then! Medium control shape wear. Anything more is uncomfortable.

Corset type shape wear- full body one with the eyelets up the middle that you can adjust in line with how much you want to pull in. Loads of choice on the internet. Wore one for the first time to give serious shape in a dress for an event - it takes getting used to but forgot about it when standing up. No muffins/ rolls in sight! Gave me lots of confidence and would do it again x
