I need a moisturiser/spf/whatever for ALL the skin problems at once

Am 46, and not a youthful unlined 46 unlike the rest of you. Caucasian skin. I have combination skin which definitely feels dry and tight in places, with flakey patches. Some of the flakey areas can become oily though. The main issue however is that I have a lovely crop of perimenopausal acne for the last few months, not just on the oily bits, but some spots on cheeks as well. Can anyone recommend a decent moisturiser that will be enough for my aged skin, but won't flare up the acne, and/or an acne treatment that isn't drying?

I don’t know about specific acne cream but two ladies I know in their 50s with beautiful skin, one is a gardener so outdoors a lot, both swear by neals yard frankinsense cream.
plus a general spf 50.
Im using it and it is good for dry bits and my skin looks a bit plumper afterwards.

Not sure what your budget is?
I'd be onto Dermatica so they can send you a formula for the acne and can be anti-aging too.
I'd maybe try some Cerave products too, really enjoying the hydrating oil cleanser and the PM moisturiser.

Have a look at Paula's Choice. They seem to have wide range.

There's a company called 49 which helps spots. My DS uses it and we can tell.if not been using the cleanser and serum as he has break outs. Might be of help to you.

Zinc and castor oil on the acne. It is the main ingredient of a lot of nappy creams. Very inexpensive. Anti inflammatory and combats any bacteria. SP, I don't think you can beat Ultra Sun. Reef safe and lasts all day. Moisturiser? I like ones from the Dr Organics range at Holland and Barrett's. Take your pick and often have offers on.

Might the cheek acne be rosacea?

La Roche Posay, Avene, CeraVe are good brands.

Dr Jackson's.

Oh, I have many years experience in this. I could have written your post, even down to age.

I have found nothing to work fully with acne other than pharmaceuticals (accutane), however, a regime over the last 2 years with regular Hydrafacials, salicylic acid cleansers and tonic, and a good moisturiser day and night has made it the best it can be with very few outbreaks. Obagi Medical were great, but pricey. I was using their 1% Retinol too, but recently that has caused more flare ups and perioral dermatitis so I stopped using it. The Inkey has a good range of salicylic acid products that you can use daily or less frequently and they're cheap. Boots sells them.
In terms of moisturisers, I always swear by Lancome. Even the rich ones don't cause acne for me if I have been consistently good with exfoliation and cleansing, and I do need a richer cream now it seems. Aveeno Night Cream is good too. M&S Sleep Cream used to be, but now causes flare ups for me sadly.

CeraVe facial wash, or La Roche Posay Effaclar.

A toner with 2% salicylic acid (Paula's Choice do one, but so do Nip and Fab and loads of other much cheaper ranges nowadays)

Probably a moisturizer for sensitive skin. La Roche Posay Toleriane etc.

Any SPF 50 for the face that you like.

You may try out vanicream. But a good skincare routine is also required for clear skin. Here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Vanicream moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Have you looked at using teen brands? I have been using the daily defence moisturiser from Bare Addiction. My son uses their products, and I tried their SPF30 moisturiser, it works well for me! Haven't had any flare ups, and funnily enough makes my makeup stick better! There products are designed for teen acne, so they are great for sensitive yet oily skin. I haven't looked back since trying them!
