Seriously. I bought them because, hey, they're shiny. But what do I wear them with?

I will no doubt get some funny reactions tbh, I live in trousers, only wear skirts when out clubbing. And of the mums I mention clubbing to, as I'm always looking for more company, at least 50% respond as if I'd suggested elective surgery or dogging or something.

i think the long top/shortish dress thing is the wat to go btw.
and those other things you mentioned too. depending on circs obv. dont want to waste a ballgown on the schoolrun really, do you?

southeastastra · 07/04/2008 20:06

nah you can carry it off i reckon! i like them alot

Twiglett · 07/04/2008 20:15

are you still bald NQC?

NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 20:20

Less bald these days, I'm growing it out. I have some hair on top, back and sides pretty short.

Ballgown (and leggings too) are for clubbing, probably for a lovely gay night we go to.

If you have more than an ounce of fat on your thighs aren't people going to be put in mind of ready to roast chicken?

snice · 07/04/2008 20:27

(mournfully) I'm so old and sensible

NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 20:31

I have fairly big thighs (but I fit into a medium at AA - wtf? I am sure I used to not fit into an XL there!), but I'm reasonably fit and muscly, too.

Right, off to play Wii DDR ... how faux-teenager am I?

a skirt with skulls on, perhaps?

they will look fab with the ballgown

consider also a drop-waisted tunicy dress/ top and a chunky belt

JackieNo · 07/04/2008 21:08

Lol, MrsB

MrsBadger · 07/04/2008 21:19

jackie she has one already

JackieNo · 07/04/2008 21:20

Oh . I only remembered about the socks.

NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 21:38

Yes, they might work with the skirt, it's grey.

MrsB, do you have a spreadsheet with details of what everyone owns, their body shape etc etc?

What do I wear for socks and shoes with them?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 21:39

OMG, that asos one is lovely, though, pity it's out of stock.

My one is H+M, grey with skulls with little bows I think.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 07/04/2008 21:40

Don't think you can wear socks with them, (unless you cover them up with boots). No sock is ever going to live up to the leggings, imo.

Something like this?

NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 21:49

Yoke necks I don't think suit me. I'm a pear, but with big shoulders. I think I would look ... big ... like that.

Empire waist works, halter necks work.

That dress is really beautiful, though - just not the right shape for me.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 07/04/2008 21:51

Fair enough. They have lots of others - I quite like the idea of the dungaree dress.

NotQuiteCockney · 07/04/2008 21:54

Oh, duh, I have a weirdo dungaree-esque dress from Oasis that is very short and thin and black. Duh.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 07/04/2008 21:55

There you go then. Sorted.

uttertripe · 07/04/2008 21:56

i disagree about the socks. some nice stripey socks and pretty or chunky shoes or boots. or just black socks. (and if boots, short ones)

uttertripe · 07/04/2008 22:06

im partial to a pretty shoe, i have to say.
but for dancing, comfy boots tend to win the day.
of course, if youre getting pissed, you cant feel the pain. you dance like a drunkard, but hey, its all swings and roundabouts really isnt it?

NotQuiteCockney · 08/04/2008 07:03

I only really own chunky shoes. Well, I have one or two pairs of heels, but I don't wear them for dancing. I'll try the leggings with different options ...
