Sandals for a 12 year old girl

What kind of sandals do your 12 year olds wear? To go with a dress or shorts.
Until now she's only ever had Keen water/trekking sandals!

I don't want to get her heels.
I'd prefer it if they were comfortable rather than e.g. a totally flat Like these from next
I don't want to spend loads.
She's a size 41.5-42

Does she want sandals? Mine refused to wear anything except trainers or crocs from about age 10 onwards. She's got black lace-ups for the rare occasion trainers aren't smart enough.

thismummydrinksgin · 06/06/2024 18:29

Mine would want slides or crocs at 12 x

hby9628 · 06/06/2024 18:32

Yep. Crocs for my 13yo. She's just brought herself a second pair

mathsAIoptions · 06/06/2024 18:32

Mine nicks my ones after saying she wouldn't be seen dead (which I notice they don't have in our size now) then scuffs up the front so I have to buy myself a separate pair, which she then "accidentally" puts on thinking they are hers and repeats https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BBFQQ1RZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Tulipblank · 06/06/2024 18:33

My 15 year old wouldn't wear sandals. Converse in summer....even abroad! Cheap flip flops at a push, but solely for pool use.

EasterlyDirection · 06/06/2024 18:35

Yes, I forgot about very occasional use of cheap flip-flops

Saltwater sandals - if you sign up to their newsletter they are sometimes on offer, can genuinely be worn in water (fountains, streams, paddling pools, you name it!), look good with dresses/shorts/trousers and retain decent resale value on eBay etc when they are outgrown.

My 12 yr old likes saltwater sandals. Lots of colour choices and comfy as they mould to your feet well.

MrsDTucker · 07/06/2024 07:25

I have a 12 and 14 year old.

Have you asked what she likes?

No way would I buy them shoes without showing them.

Mine only wear trainers. In the summer canvas ones like someone else mentioned like converse. They have sliders and crocs but only wear them at home.

longdistanceclaraclara · 07/06/2024 07:26

Crocs, cheap flip flops. Mine would laugh if I suggested saltwater

MrsDTucker · 07/06/2024 07:27

I can't imagine any tween wearing saltwater sandals. I've never heard of them.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 07/06/2024 07:28

Yes my 13 year old wouldn't touch a sandal with a barge pole. She wears crocs or flip flops or converse

sweettomato · 07/06/2024 07:38

Mine wear trainers with their dresses/ through summer.

Also crocs - can often find them in sale if wanting to keep cost down.

lateatwork · 07/06/2024 09:40

Birkenstocks (or similar)for my 12 year old- and even then she needs to choose the style.

I can't either. I'm fifty and I've got some but my teenagers wouldn't wear them.

ChangeTheProphecy · 07/06/2024 10:33

My 11 year old wears Birkenstocks. Have a look somewhere like Office, they have a good selection and also a decent own brand range.

Kitkat1523 · 07/06/2024 10:54

Crocs or sliders or converse…..definitely not sandals

I’m 59…. No way would I wear these…definitely not for a young person

NoDetentions · 07/06/2024 12:34

@MrsDTucker helpfully, she doesn't know what she likes!

I've not heard of Saltwater before but I must admit to being tempted to get some for myself 😀

She has crocs but only wears them at home or at a push in the garden.

I'll offer to get her either sandals or converse type then and see what she says.

Each to their own.

My tween has them, as do I, and we love them. I got mine because hers seemed so wearable.

Might not choose to wear them when I’m 69 though…

DD 12 has white Birkenstocks, white converse and crocs for holidays. She also has a pair of these from Next ordered for delivery tomorrow.
