What jackets to wear with these dresses?

I have a wedding and my DS graduation over the summer.
I have these two dresses, the navy I'm thinking of fushia pink sandles, bag, etc and the duck egg one , blush pink bag, sandles .
I am wanting to get a jacket to go with both, so a fushia colour and a blush colour, as I get cold really easy!
What length would you say was best for these type of dress please?

I don't think either of those dresses are dresses where putting a jacket on top looks right.

The duck egg one is a summer day dress. If it were chilly I'd put a short , round necked cardigan on top, maybe with 3/4 sleeves.

For the navy one I don't think anything would look right but if you do want to wear a jacket, then cropped or no longer than waist length.

Thanks for the reply. I'll just have to be cold. 🥲

I agree with the pp-I don’t think a jacket would go-a cardigan/wrap might be worth considering?

Thanks, I'm going to look at a cardi for the floral one and maybe a wrap for the other.
Fingers crossed they are both on lovely sunny days!

Of course you can wear a jacket! Maybe the other posters live in Newcastle or something 😂

I'd wear a denim jacket happily over both but that's very much my style. For a more formal look, a short blazer or tuxedo type jacket would work. Don't really recommend a cardigan and DO NOT wear a wrap, if they still exist.

I went to a wedding at peak wrap, and wore one myself. We looked like we were going to start a fight over lifeboats on the Titanic.

Thanks, probably the best thing for me to do is try a few different options on with the dresses.
The blue one isn't needed until September, but I've got so much on I thought I would plan ahead, but now I'm thinking I should have gone for something with longer sleeves!

Agree with pps you could get away with a cardigan with the duck egg dress. I’d also suggest not colour co-ordinating shoes, bag and jacket as it will look too matchy-matchy - it will look much more stylish if at least one of them is different.

Bolero or cropped. But I'd probably wear a pashmina.

No, not Newcastle.

I feel the cold but for those dresses I would (a) a coat over them to get to the venue (b) a cardigan over the duck egg one (c) the navy one only at an evening venue where it would be warm enough to wear that dress.

I think a denim jacket or a tuxedo jacket would look terrible.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I get super stressed when I have events coming up, and overthink everything, I put it down to perimenopause!

Personally I would choose a boxy blazer with the sleeves turned back to try to add a teeny bit of edginess. Emerald green or plaster pink with the darker blue dress. No idea about the duck egg! Silver grey maybe.

Jacket or wrap, not cardigan as you can only go sleeveless at a wedding if it’s a heatwave

Loveagoodbook · 02/06/2024 23:00

I've just seen this dress which I quite like. I'm just abit worried that the navy one will be too summery for mid September, although it could be warmer than July!
It may be too long though, as I'm only 5ft3!
