I'm in my early thirties and stuck in a style and beauty rut. I feel so out of touch with what's trendy and I'm craving a total make over.

I used to be considered stylish in my early twenties and good with make up (I worked as a mua during uni) but I'm so out of the loop. This is mostly due to an all consuming career in which my colleagues are majority male or much older women. Most of my friends are uninterested in shopping and have a sporty/very casual style that doesn't chime with me.

I guess there are some people who stand out to me for being stylish on Instagram (Millie mackintosh and vogue Williams for example) but I find it hard to emulate their outfits, perhaps because they're styled so well and they're gorgeous!

This being part of the issue - even if I do buy nice things I've seen on others I end up looking silly because I have no idea how to style my clothes anymore, any tips would be very much appreciated.

I'm 5'4 and size 10.

I admit, I'm so lost and in need some visual cues:
Who's considered a style inspiration?
Who's considered as a beauty/hair inspiration?
What brands are good for early 30s?
How do people learn how to style their clothes so nicely? Sad

Also, does anyone know of a course I can take on personal styling? - as usual as it sounds!

There are people i follow on insta and you tube that put outfits together based on style or bodyshape.

Whatemwore
Lifewithjazz
Alexxcoll
Louscorporatelife
Harriettjones_

I also go on pintrest and create pins for each item in my wardrobe. So one pin is a denim jacket for example. I then save outfits i like with the style of that jacket. So when i wake up i might want to wear an particular item and i can go to that pin and see what outfits i can make from pins ive saved for that item of clothing

I also like watching capsules wardrobes on you tube

check out styled.by.susie on insta. I bought a body shape and colour analysis from her and then sunglasses style too

@Giraff3 thank you! This is all very helpful. I really like the Pinterest idea, I'll definitely give it a go!

I resonate with your post. I used to be a 6/8 before babies and could wear anything and felt good. Felt confident.
After Two babies back to back - I am finally back to a 10 with a little tum and I am finally feeling myself but none of the old
clothes fit. I’ve lived in leggings for about 3 years. I would still like to lose half a stone but I feel I am ready to start buying some clothes and feeling like ‘me’ again.
I am 33 and I feel like a frump. Youngest is almost 1 and I’m now back to work and so have bought some real basics. But I looked at myself in the mirror and I looked so bloody frumpy! I used to be white fashionable about 5 years ago.
I feel my makeup is wrong .
I have no shoes .
No clothes really .
i don’t want to try and look like a teenager but I used to feel good .
So the past few months I’ve been looking at stuff but not really having the nerve to go for it . But I’m going to really re invest in myself . I am going to start my wardrobe !!! I think being back at work has got me motivated. I kept saying - I’ll just lose another half a stone then I’ll start but why wait.
My goal is to have a good staple of basics and shoes for autumn ( my fav season ) Then I want to have a bloody glam Christmas.
i just wanted to say - I feel you ! Xxx
