Looking for relaxed summer party outfits

Please help me find something to wear for two parties I have this month - one a family birthday party and the other a family bbq, both outside, one at home.

I was thinking a casual but nice maxi dress (I like the hotsquash ones) or maybe some wide leg trousers and a top? Skinny jeans a nice top could also work.

I'm 5'4 and a size 10.

I would prefer flat shoes but could for wedges. Not necessarily looking to buy shoes.

Thank you.

I would prefer short sleeved rather than sleeveless, something that is flattering around the middle

is there somewhere that sells nice wide led printed trousers?

M&S have lots of wide leg trousers. Pair with a matching jacket (other shops have trouser suits too) and pop a top under. Crochet or lace are a good choice. Linen knitted top over wide leg jeans looks smart and casual at the same time. Wear gold jewellery. Or invest in a dress from Rixo - wait for the sales! I quite like Broderie anglais shirt dresses too. You would never go wrong with a striped shirt dress either with a basket bag. Espadrilles go with nearly everything. Skinny jeans are a bit dated. I think!

Thanks @TizerorFizz I'll have a look at M&S and like the styling ideas

I know what you mean about skinny jeans but they are still my go to and probably find for a kids' party but I am leaning towards a jumpsuit now

Thanks @PragmaticDramatic I don't think I'd pull that off. I think that length is not good for me as it will make me look dumpy. I prefer above the knee or maxi but I'm leaning towards a jumpsuit now as I think it will be easier than finding a separate top and trousers

Not sure about jump suits. Will the waist be in the right place? Then there’s the faff of going to the loo! Size 10 is great for wide jeans. Wear some mid heels and you cannot wrong. Lots of tops go with these jeans.

Wide jeans or bootcut jeans could work. I just feel like I want something new but having trouble finding anything I like. I lost shop online as I don't often see anything in the shops that I actually like!

Perhaps I should have a stroll around John Lewis.

I ordered a jumpsuit from Next and it wasn't great
