I have worn the same colour eyeshadow for years - help me get out of this rut!

I have pale skin, reddish/blonde hair and blue eyes with flecks of green and gold.

I have worn the same type of colour for years - taupe/pinky pale highlighter for day and smoky plum/glittery grey for nights out.

What would suit me? I am 40+, so nothing too outlandish please!

I tried an emerald green but it looked appalling!

Does Navy blue go with blue eyes??

I haven't a clue.

Navy might be good. Also try shimmery bronzey/gold?

(don't actually have blue eyes myself - trying to visualise!)

I used to wear gold eyeshadow in my teens. DO you reckon I could still get away with that.

I think I need a 'make-over' at Boots/ Debenhams or somewhere.

cripes not boots or debenhams. are you pink or yellow? makeup accordingly. sounds more pink than yellow, hence you are going for plum not emerald. silver might be much better than gold.

How about going to a Mac counter? Their eyeshadow is lovely and I've heard good things about their demos.

I reckonyou are right fishie pink not yellow. Can you suggest somewhere other than Boots /Debs then? (Am not near big city, hence my first thoughts)

I think my nearest Mac counter is in Sheffield. Will have to try.

mac not good for me, but it was a bloke and he was grumpy in selfridges, my friend and i made him do our eyes and we hadn't booked. other mac women have been good with advice but a bit too keen to sell.

also been done by a woman from benefit (that was in boots) and she was ok but a bit odd.
