What night cream and day cream shall I try?

I've always used cheaper beauty products ( Aldi/Nivea) and although these are fine, I fancy something a bit more upmarket to see if it makes a difference.
I'm mid sixties, fair skin, no real skin issues and would like something with SPF.
Any recommendations? I was thinking Clarins, but there are so many options it's hard to tell what's what! I did get a Liz Earle night cream as a present and am not keen, it feels quite thin and not as creamy as the Aldi one!

No 7? Mid price but very good.

There is a lot to choose from but at the moment I'm using Avene Physiolift and am wondering why it's taken me this long to find. It's amazing on my skin. It doesn't have spf in it though, but I do use a seperate one.

I have the eye cream from this range too. Again I'm so impressed.

I'm mid 50s so my skin is quite a bit drier than it used to be. And a bit more sensitive hence me trying this out.

I have used Clarins religiously since my late 20s. Then around covid times I stopped buying it as it was just too pricy. I found Neutrogena not too dissimilar. The issue with Clarins is the creams targeted at age groups and the red one for more mature skin is a bit too expensive for what it is imo.

I still have loads of travel sizes and samples that you get with purchases so I like to get them out every now and then to see what I'm missing. I can't say I'm that wowed to go rushing back to their counter.

I always had Clarins for years, but after reading a bit about The Ordinary when overseas, I realised I just needed the main ingredients for the things I wanted (moisture, anti wrinkle) and a bit of a nice feel/ smell.

I tried so many types of skincare when I moved to the uk! I love most No7 stuff and think it's great value.

My go-tos are Hyaluronic acid from The ordinary/ Inkey List/ Pixi and then moisturiser is Strivectin (amazing if you give a shit about wrinkles/ skin texture, so smoooooth) and then I love face oil, so I have Face Blanket from Sali Highes at Boots but also love Pixi Rosehip Oil. Feels so lovely and smells great. There's so much lovely stuff out there. If it's for a treat to yourself, I really rate John Lewis for a run through the beauty counters and have a couple consultations, it's fun and you get to smell everything which is a big factor for me! I got the Inkey List moisturiser and it smelt awful so I couldn't use it 🤪

Thanks to everyone who’s replied, I realised when I checked that I gave Boots No 7 day cream already!

I’m a massive fan of Tropics.

Poggishairtufts · 29/05/2024 13:24

Tropics is an MLM so you might not want to support it. There's so much choice, I've recently changed from Cerave to Caudalie just for something difference and really like it. If you have a good branch of Boots maybe ask to speak to someone in there to get you some samples. I like Clarins but I really do think it's all nice smells and packaging, I never see the ingredients like hyaluronic acid, retinol, vit c etc mentioned in the ingredients so I wonder of it's all just snake oil.

Comefromaway · 29/05/2024 13:26

Cerave - I've just changed from Boots no 7 & Nivea to Cerave and I can see the difference.

I've used Nivea Q10 for years, then tried the Lidl dupe and found it better. (and v cheap)
Recently bought L' oreal moisturiser to try, and that doesn't compare well at all to the Lidl products.
I used Clinique and Clarins when younger (and richer) but can honestly say there is not a lot of difference between them all.
