Cordless (and small) hair straighteners

Hi - we do a bit of motorbike touring (sometimes camping) and I'm fed up of always looking a scruff! Hair is in a shortish bob, either straight or wavy (if styling at home), and I'm after a set of smallish (i.e. easy to pack up on a motorbike) straighteners - ideally rechargeable/cordless for if we camp and to save on packing space.

Can anybody recommend some? GHD and Cloud 9 both make them (although pricey), Babyliss features in the magazines, and there are a few others.... I couldn't find any independent reviews I would trust though...

Thank you !

Hi
Not really helpful but learn from my mistakes!
I bought the Babyliss one -it weighed a ton and really caught on my hair and gave a poor finish.
So I then bought the GHD one ( have normal GHD straighteners so thought would be good) does not seem to get hot enough for my fairly coarse hair. Takes ages to charge and does not give a really smooth finish like the plug in GHDs I have.
It has been an expensive learning curve!
Am considering trying these as they have good reviews

Oh interesting thank you! I wonder if the cloud 9s are better. Disappointing on the babyliss and ghd!

I’ve got some Revamp rechargeable ones for camping. They don’t get as hot as my corded ones but keep my annoyingly fluffy, fine hair under some semblance of control while I’m away.

I’ve got the Dyson one and it’s good but soooooo heavy!

dgirluk · 30/05/2024 06:22

Thanks both - heavy is a no-no given it's going in motorbike panniers !

@dgirluk did you get any in the end? Would you recommend?

stayathomer · 03/02/2025 07:40

Another for new ghd not being great (very coarse hair too)- my old one was amazing but I tried my friend’s and I’m so relieved I did, definitely not close to the quality it was🧐

No I didn’t - i delayed the decision and haven’t made it yet 🫣

Just got back from New Zealand and my cordless GHDs were confiscated by airport security. Apparently they are not allowed in either carry-on or checked baggage unless they have a flight safe mode or a battery component that can be removed.
Fortunately was traveling back through that airport so could collect and post home
