Help! Strong deodorant needed for teenage boy

Calling all wise MNers for help. My son (early teens) has developed really strong BO over the last few weeks. His hygene is great, he showers morning and night and always wears a fresh shirt every day. Yet, despite this the poor boy's clothes smells really strong. I have just done a load of washing (school shirts) and as I have come to hang them up. They still smell! He is using a dove deodorant but clearly
it is not enough. Can anyone help? Thanks so much in advance.

Lots of things to try thank you everyone! Would simple be a good bar of soap to use?

I use Pears bar soap. Works a treat and the Dove stick, not spray or roll on. I laughed in lockdown when the 56 old chap I sit next to at work moaned he'd run out of Dove stick as I always assumed it was for women, but it just smells soapy. (I had a spare I gave him)

As the mother of 3 teenage boys, I would advise explaining to him in detail how to wash /scrub under his arms with bar soap and also make sure he is putting enough antiperspirant (NOT deodorant) on and in the right place. I was astounded to see one of my boys spraying one teeny squirt on the side of his armpit - instead of right up into the armpit.

Speedstick unscented is by far the best deodorant in the world hands down. My husband showers morning and night and he has tried Mitchun and other brands but none help at all. Honestly the speed stick unscented deodorant lasts all day, can be used on dark clothes and doesn't have a deodorant like smell...give it a try and I promise it won't dissapoint.

For the clothes definistely wash the clothes using fabric conditioner (yellow comfort conditioner is the best and lasting) and Ariel pods (honestly I used to think detergent was all the same but trust me try it ) clothes smell good after the combination.

No, it's not soapy enough. The Dettol one is the best as it's antibacterial. Anything Dove is inadequate.

roastedrapidly · 28/05/2024 22:56

I would suggest a bar if soap in the shower rather than shower gel.

NotSentFromIphone · 28/05/2024 23:17

Gillette Gel (like a stick but it's a clear gel) is brilliant. A bit hard to find in the shops but I tend to stock up from Superdrug online or Amazon.

Ihavenoclu · 29/05/2024 11:18

Thank you so much all, I have bought the Detol soap and a pack of flannels (Ike do a multipack very reasonably priced and will look into the antiperspirants today as well as trying the remedies for clothes washing. DS is away with my inlaws at the moment and is back on Friday. I will make sure I have everything ready for him when he gets back.
