If I want a healthy looking skin but not foundation / Bb / Cc... what else? Balms?

I rarely wear makeup, I dont like foundation, I feel like BB and CC creams are too heavy or mask like.

I dress very casual / simply... what else could I use?

It would inly be on a day or night out, not every day wear.

Jones Road miracle balm gets lukewarm reviews, there is a Laura Mercer sort of cream.... anything else anyone could recommend??

I like No 7 intelligent foundation
It's more of a tinted moisturiser and just evens up my skin with a more even healthy finish .. I use medium .. No 7 counters are good at helping you match and will give you a wee pot to try a few times before spending .. think it's about £16. , lasts me months

Anuggetofpurestgreen · 25/05/2024 20:22

I know you don't like cc creams but Erborian cc cream is so light and barely visible and you can also get an Erborian water cc cream which is even lighter. Korean technology so quite advanced. I get it from Amazon very reasonably.

The other good one is Nars tinted moisturiser.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/05/2024 20:23

Trinny London BFF skin protector might suit? More like moisturiser that goes on white but with colour that develops after you apply it.

Orangello · 25/05/2024 20:24

Erborian CC water. Honestly barely there.

FleaDog · 25/05/2024 20:25

These are all really useful suggestions, thank you!

IT Cosmetics CC cream is brilliant stuff

mactire · 25/05/2024 21:57

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. Excellent for the “my skin but glowy” vibe.

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/05/2024 21:59

I love Trinny BFF for days when foundation is too much

WhitegreeNcandle · 25/05/2024 21:59

A fan of the Trinny BFF here. Just gives me an evenness my skin doesn’t have even when it’s got a health glow. V natural too. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive!

ManilowBarry · 25/05/2024 22:01

You can add moisturiser to any foundation to make it a tint rather than a full or medium coverage.

Garnier vitamin c daily uv glow is cheap but has a nice finish to the skin.

suki1964 · 25/05/2024 22:09

Im actually getting on really well with Laura Geller balance and brighten

Light to medium ( perhaps if you layer up enough ) , its one of those products that for a while it doesnt look like its doing anything, then all of a sudden, a brightness about the skin and a pretty balanced colour.

Cant feel a thing on the skin, and for me it really doesnt settle ( bare minerals was becoming cakey and drying and settled in the lines )

Pumpkindoodles · 25/05/2024 22:11

Fenty do a bb cream that’s great, it’s really light but you could experiment and not put much on, or not apply to your full face if you don’t like too much. You could also add a tiny drop of any foundation to your moisturiser.
Is it that you don’t like the look or don’t like the feeling of the ‘mask’
If it’s the look make sure you have a good colour match, it took me a long time to figure out the colours I’m given at counters and the colours I thought I was, were absolutely not right!

you could also try just a few drops of highlighter mixed in your normal moisturiser for a dewy fresh look

PollyIndia · 25/05/2024 22:19

I got the Lisa Eldridge skin tint for this exact thing and I love it

rainbowunicorn · 25/05/2024 22:28

Laura Geller baked foundation is great

isthismylifenow · 26/05/2024 08:12

I just bought the Revlon illuminated skin tint and I'm very impressed.

I love this stuff. Has SPF in too 👍

Another vote for Trinny BFF - gives the 'my skin but better ' look! Also wish it wasn't so expensive so have been looking around at cheaper alternatives. As a PP said, the Garnier Vitamin C glow is pretty good, just evens out a bit without feeling heavy.

Came here to say the same thing, it's lovely, it just looks like skin (but a better version of your own).

TheOGCCL · 26/05/2024 09:25

You could try a mineral based option like Bare Minerals or Laura Geller. It can’t feel like a heavy cream as it’s not a cream until it reacts with your natural oils. Better for oilier skin than dry.

MissedItByThisMuch · 26/05/2024 09:32

Yet another vote for Trinny BFF - so light it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything, but evens out complexion really well and has SPF. Love it!

Pollerono · 26/05/2024 09:35

Everyone raves about Laura Mercier but I didn’t like it. It just disappears. The Lisa Eldridge one - skin tint - is fabulous!! It’s not going to give you heavy coverage, it just evens things out, you can get samples online.

It is amazing, but it's the fullest coverage base in existence almost!

I'd say it's as full coverage as Doublewear if not more so.
